There is no such thing as an inspired translation, and the original KJV isn't even a good translation, with more than 3,500 translational errors. The translators appointed by King James simply were not expert in the ancient languages, and their work plainly reflects their lack of expertise. Many of their errors are just wrong punctuation, wrong tense of a verb, etc., but some of them are really pretty ridiculous, such as their translation of the Hebrew phrase for "horned beasts" as "unicorns", instead of the obvious correct meaning found in every other version of the Bible - "oxen" or "cattle". The Revised KJV is much better, with most of the errors having been corrected. But the unicorns are still there.

Inspired? No. No translation is inspired, though the Word of God itself is.
The KJV it is full of problems including subjective "translation".
Currently NASB is one of the best English translations available.

I think it more likely that King James was inspired to do a mew translation to better control his subjects. I don't think God had anything to do with it.
