Me and my dad went to go and get some gas for his lawn mower. He only wanted me to go, so I could pay for it, and he wouldn't have to walk up there, and it would be alot faster. Well, he gave me seven dollars to pay for it, and I came back, and he had pumped $7.01......and we only paid seven dollars for it. My mom only gave him a five dollar check, but he added two dollars.....so on the check, its got all of our information on it. I was just wondering if there was anyway we could get in trouble for this? Thanks Alot!!

Technically yes you could but chances are you don't have anything to worry about.Usually all stores have a place to drop unwanted pennies. Many people choose not to take pennies as change so they leave them. Many times when someone buys an item and the amount is odd the cashier will use a couple of the pennies to make up the difference.

Hello! I'm positive you wont get in trouble. It would cost them more time and effort to find you for one cent. Some places have those "take a penny, leave a penny", so they could've taken a penny from there to make up for that penny after you left. Even if they dont, gas stations dont keep track of where every cent comes from and who gave them what. They'll just be off a penny when they balance their drawer, and write it off. It happens all the time! I know, I used to work in a store, and now I work for a bank, and a penny is not a big deal. If they're only off a penny, thats considered a good day in any kind of sales. So dont lose sleep over it...you wont be arrested or contacted about it! Hope this makes you feel better:)

Your Dad only pumped one cent over on the gas, it will not be a problem.

You are a very honest young lady, and your parents brought you up well, but the gas station or store will not be worried about one cent, if it was one dollar or more, they would say something.

Plus, if your Mom wrote a check, the store or station must know your parents well enough to accept a check from them, and if they need the one cent, they will ask for it the next time your Dad gets gas for the lawnmower or the car.

You have a great day and bless you for being honest.

No, you're not going to get in trouble. It would cost them far more time and effort than it's worth to track you down for 1 cent. Plus, it's highly unlikely that the attendant will even notice. When you close out a register, sometimes it just happens that you're a couple cents off here and there... You'll be fine.

No... you did the right thing! At very worst, they would right it off at the gas station as a loss! But really... its not enough to be that big of deal! Heck! I once forgot to take the gas pump hose out of my gas tank and drove off! That was embarrassing!

So don't worry girl!

And if it does not, your in basic terms 11 so it is not comparable to u have not got time. Wait till ur going into highschool or 8th grade or some thing.

no, you won't get in trouble for that. Gas stations are too busy tracking down the folks who fill up and run, they don't got time to worry about a penny.

Well I am not sure, but I doubt it! It was only one cent over, the cashier proboly just threw in a penny for you. So don't worry about it too much! :) I'm sure everything will be fine.

Um no. Especially considering how everyone has the take a penny thing. Even if they were that, um, something, to pursue, they wouldn't get anywhere in court.

for 1 penny? I doubt it. Here the "attenndant" will just take an extra penny out of a cup if you go over on gas. no big deal.
