My girlfriend bought this stuff at MJ Design, and it lookes like grapevines. It comes in a roll sort off, and you pull it apart and stretch it outside for a little bit, and then you can add twinkle lights etc. I want to do it myself, I have about 4 ft of space between the tops of my cabinets and the ceiling!

Depending on the space between the cabinets and the ceiling. We have seen our clients put decor items on the wall instead of the cabinets. No theme, they find pieces at discount home good stores. Find items around the home that show your style and group them in 3's. Look on contractors FB or Websites, they usually have high end homes and this will give you an idea of how others are decorating. Good Luck

There are a lot of ways things you can do to add color and interest to the top of your cabinets. It's easiest if you stick to a theme...Mexican pottery pieces, birdhouses, antique kitchen appliances, etc. It's better to stay away from smaller pieces as they are difficult to see at that height. Use stacked books to raise items that are to short to see above the raised edge of the cabinet. Place bunches of artificial ivy between items as filler and let some of it trail off the sides. It's better to use a few large items than a lot of smaller ones.

I have mine done with Roosters. And things that go with it. I have some old large "Ball" brand jars with yellow corn feed in them, and the roosters themselves are very colorful. ( I like to find unique ones) I also put tall pillar candles up there to accent. And in some bare spots I put some silk sunflowers. But, you could do whatever theme your kitchen is. Good Luck.

Use items your collect.
I have antique glass canning jars, crockery bowl, stove-top coffee pot, etc.. Then had fake grape vines hanging from edge of bowl or coming out of coffee pot mouth. I also had coffee cup hooks in ceiling corners to drape more vine.

Could put up a cloth or felt covered peg board or cork board on wall above your cabinets. Peg board = had hooks to hang items. Cork board to thumb tack items.

Go to 2nd hand store, flea market, etc.. & get bright colored glass items.

I like a clean minimalist look so I prefer nothing. The space is shallow anyway so I don't care to clutter it up. If you prefer to put something there, then look at what your kitchen decor is about and follow through with the thought.

I think you should have (paint) them white, if they arn't right now. Then you should put things like rainbow colored pots, glass vases, bowls, etc. You should create as much attention to the kitchen as possible. Don't just put them above cabnits, put them above more. If your cabinets are like mine there's about a foot of space between them and the ceiling. I bought a really nice wallpaper border to put there and it looks super!

put some jars of different sizes up there that are filled with colored sand...make sand art...very pretty and can be changed just by shaking the jars around...or look at some of donna dewberry's work...she does one stroke painting on just about every surface imaginable...there are a lot of things you could put up there...
