Imagine you could open your own private school. Would you be the only student? Who would be your fellow students? Who would you bring in for teachers? Equipment? Facilities? Location?

1)location-la paz, paru. why, because it is the capital with the highest altitude. With the high altitude, i should have great conditioning. (capital, not city or town with the highest altitude)

2) jujitsu- Matt Serra. i like his aggressive jujitsu style.

3)Freddy roach for boxing

4)Cale Sanderson for wrestling.

5) Chuck Norris for Tang Soodo, I think that how it's spelled. Chuck Norris was Karate Champion for seven, or was it ten years.

6) I would be the student.

Hi there

My teacher has his own private dojo at his home which can accommodate about 20 students. The most important thing is the floor space and the height of the ceiling so that you can train comfortably. The rest is purely cosmetic. But its always nice to have some Japanese art work and screens to set the tone. A suit of yori armour in the corner wouldn't go amiss either.

Just depends on your personal taste. I'm sure some people would much rather have lots of gym equipment and a speed bag than anything else. But for me these are gym equipment and not dojo decor.

Best wishes

My teacher actually did, it took him nearly 50years but we finally got there in the end it is one of the largest in New Zealand ,
This is the basic layout ,
two training areas(10,000sq foot) that can open up into one big area, it has a study area with an extensive library of books and DVDs, It also has a Martial arts supply warehouse and a shop (Bushido Supplies).

A publishing company (Insights Into Martial Arts Publishing).
Conference and administration rooms ,
Kitchens and amenity's etc,
Specialised equipment Makiwaras /Woodenmen /Weapon Racks /Punch Bags /Acupuncture Tables etc.

Oh and an Engineering workshop on the end of the Building that we rent out too cover our running cost because we all know how hard it is to make aliving out of teaching !!!!

Our Location is in a small town with a population of 5000 people! Picton NZ
We have certainly come alongway since i first walked into a small old building that was my first dojo in 1985.

So what i am saying is I trained in my dream dojo,
I am also proud to come from a school that has played a big part in our community, where just about anyone in our small town had some thing to do with our school, the privilege i have had to have trained with people from all walks of life, from troubled children and teenagers that the police brought in , it was just incredible.

To me, the location is of utmost importance and I'd choose the mountains near Cloudcroft, New Mexico. It's beautiful and so peaceful, with mild weather most of the year, and a short drive to big enough towns to go shopping or seek entertainment but the seclusion is important because I'd make it a sanctuary and retreat, a place where people go to learn, to work-out, to meditate and to heal spiritually.

The teachers would need to give input about the equipment and facilities, whatever would make it easier for them to be able to share their knowledge, but it would be a place for "contemplative growth" spiritually and physically.

Dojo.i would have a building something like a university, where they learn martial arts and there academic subjects. There would be a sparring only room, and another with weight lifting room, and a drilling room. the floors would be oriental wood, and whole building would look like a Japanese building

I would have a hybrid martial arts school that is qualified in both a grappling martial art and a striking martial art, have my students train in classes for both arts and award belts in both.

I'm not going to give a black belt to a student who is unable to defend himself in any situation.

I would open up fashion designer and create my own clothing line and release it in a ton of stores. I think that is a really cool job! If not, a stylist of make-up or clothing for celebs. that is just as cool!
