Do you think it is a good idea for JGR to switch to Toyota in '08?

When I said "leading manufacturor in cars going home", I meant cars that failed to qualify for the race.

The Toyota teams have pretty much no shot at qualifying for the old style cars! They are fine at the COT races, plus the fact that all the Toyota teams are new or under funded compared to the Roush's, DEI's and Hendrick teams its no wonder they aren't in the top 35 and miss more races!

JGR and their COT setups won't need to change much! So they will be just fine! The only problem is the engine changes needed from Chevy to Toyota, but I trust the guys at JGR to bring resources and knowledge that is desperately missing in the Toyota camp!

Write it down now! A JGR car wins in the first 10 races and all 3 cars (20,11,18 or whatever Busch drives!) will make the chase! By the end of year each of the 3 will win a race!

The days of bashing the "foreign" (nevermind the actually make the camry in the US! and aren't losing money hand over fist!) team in NASCAR are coming to an end in about 4 1/2 months!

Toyota made a big mistake starting with c'mon Michael Waltrip! Joe Gibbs racing will shine you just wait and see, they have a really good race team, the drivers are all good, it may take a year or 2, but they will be a good team. JGR just didn't have the money that a couple of other teams do, but they will now, JGR will have the upper hand and they will win races and will win a championship! Toyota has a lot of Money!!!!

I tink Toyota will pour more mone into it than the other Toyota teams. JGR is well established with owner points for starting, and more money already in their equipment, technology, employees, etc,to make it work. I think we'll see better races from the Toy's now, as they've had more time to work out the problems from this year.

Well if JGR can't change this I'd say Toyota can go home for good..and let Tony, Denny, Kyle come back to chevy..If Gibbs can't win races or get top 5 finishes, or make the race every weekend, I think Gibbs will realize his mistake, I'm a chevy fan true and true.. But with all the Mega $$$ they are putting in next year I say produce or go home for good.. It might take a year, but as we all know "Smoke" wants to win...he is not going to stay in any car that he can not win in...I know its too early to say anything, its spooky.

They will be fine. You will have to just get used to it. All these questions you post on this matter do not change the situation. JGR is an awesome team and the results you see this year with other team are in no way a reflection of the performance of JGR next year. Now if for some unforeseen reason they are off in their setups next year then I can understand your questioning of their decision.

Allmendinger had the 38 fastest time he's not going home because he wasn't one of the fastest 43 he's going home because he's not in the top 35 in owner points. All three JGR cars are guaranteed to be in the first five races. Stewart is guaranteed the first 11 in a worst case scenario with his pass champions provisional, but I don't think it will come to that.

With the COT leveling the playing field as way of the chasis, it's going to come to the engine program and I don't think that JGR is going to put out bad engines. Is it reasonable to expect the 11,18,20 in the chase I don't see why not but anybody can miss the chase. Stewart missed last year in a Chevy, so any thing can happen and I think that it has less to do with the manufacturer and more with driver.

Has an electric and another gas motor. Batteries too. The plug in version has a lithium battery bank and must be fitted as such (which voids the warrentee), but get 100 mpg. The standard Prius works well. Get up to 60 mpg (actually 45 is more likely). $22 to 25 K for one. Generally you need to wait for one. Batteries are best replaced every 5 years at $2 to 3 K a pop.

Toyota had problems because of who they were affiliated with. Adding Gibbs to the mix will only make Toyota better. Look what happened in the truck series. Toyota got off to a slow start and look how good their teams are now.

I think they will be fine. There may be a learning curve, but with the COT it will be easier than it would have been in the past. JGR has everything at their disposal to continuing being successful, even in a Toyota.

The Toyota teams in the cup series are all start up teams. Historically speaking, all start-up teams struggle for two or three years. Toyota has strong engines, they have shown that in the truck series. But it is going to be interesting to see how an established team that can dominate like Joe Gibbs, take three championship caliber drivers like Stewart, Hamlin and Busch, and see if they can compete every Sunday.

My personal feeling...Tony, Denny and Kyle will miss the chase next year.
