My neighbors mow my yard without me asking them too. I have a 7 month old and my husband is in Iraq so I dont quite jump at the opportunity to mow my yard and my neighbors have taken it into their own hands. I dont mind that they do it and I know that they are doing it out of kindness, but I dont know what to say to them or how to thank them. I know they wont accept money. She said all she wanted was a simple Thank you. I dont feel as me saying thank you is enough. I would love too cook for them (but I would like to keep them as my neighbors lol).
If she said all she wanted was a simple Thank You, Should that be enough? I almost feel guilty and didn't offer the info that my husband was deployed because I didn't want anyone feeling sorry for me. I would buy them something but I have NO CLUE what they are into...This is frustrating and I feel like I owe them something. What should I do. I am fine with saying thank you but I feel guilty, like that is not enough.

For neighbors like that, Thank You is most gratifying and it indeed all they want. Feel blessed that you have such neighbors. My mother has neighbors like that, it's wonderful. Thanks to you and your family, and especially your husband for your sacrifices and may God bless you all.

I am sure that your neighbor has already felt rewarded by the good feelings she's received about doing something nice for someone else. Of course, nothing is preventing you from following their example and doing something nice for a neighbor. I think your instinct about cooking something is a good idea; I was thinking that giving them a plateful of cookies would be a very nice thing to do.

Definitely bake something for them, very simple.... just a pie or some cookies. It's the thought what counts, it needn't be an expensive or show-offy gift, just something you put your thoughts and gratitude on, and they will really appreciate it. You don't need to do this every time they mow the lawn, mind you...... just once for the times they've helped you will be more than enough for them, because they're doing it from their heart.

Wow they are so incredibly sweet! I think a small gift card to a book store or Mc D's would be something anyone would appreciate, along with a hug.

The most gracious way to accept a gift is to say thank you, should you feel that more is required then a card or gift certificate is proper.

Buy them a nice potted flower if they have that type of stuff in their yard, or maybe bring them some cookies... maybe from a local bakery?

if thank you is all she wants, then say thank you. sometimes those words can be the most power full words in the world. if you really want to give them something, make them a pie, or a batch of brownies.
