I wonder if you could actually make the choice yourself. Do you think you could become a homosexual if you wanted to. Put your money where your mouth is and try it, just once. It wouldn't really be a big deal, for I'm sure that once you've proven that it really is a choice, you can ask god and jesus for forgiveness and that's that, right?
And by the way, I'm not a homosexual, so don't propose to me. I'm just not ignorant enough to think that sane people would choose to be gay.

i have been in school for years now finishing my degree in psychology. genuine homosexuality is not a choice. i am not gay but i understand that it must be difficult for many homosexuals in a largely christian community. oh and im not christian either. dont think that homosexuality is some kind of mental illness, because its not that either.

First off, i'm a liberal on "the gay issue". Really. And as such, i feel like it's a good idea to get my side up to speed on the debate so we don't look like idiots.
The issue isn't whether homosexual urges are a choice. All but the most ignorant understand that they are not. But people have urges all the time that aren't choices. It is ACTING on those urges that is by definition a choice. It is technically always a choice to eat something, even when you're starving. Same thing with sex/dating/marriage. Conservatives argue that "living a gay lifestyle" is a choice that is immoral and therefore shouldn't be made. They are wrong (first point - the Bible wasn't written by God etc). Hammer them about that, and we will win.
Remember these people believe they are on some sort of holy crusade. When you call them ignorant, it just fuels their messiah complex, which is REALLY annoying (the Bible says Christians will be persecuted etc)

I don't think it is a choice. But for your question, let's say it's not a choice, and someone is gay. He is attracted to another man. He still has a CHOICE whether to give in to that attraction. He can consciously choose to resist that sin, if he wants to obey God. Just like if a man is attracted to a married woman. That doesn't mean he has to give in and have sex with her. It's about self-control.
Everyone is tempted to sin, not just sexually, but steal if they don't have any money, or do 25 mph over the speed limit if they're late for work, or whatever. The Bible tells us there is no temptation too great that we can't resist; and God will always show us a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).

i think the only way that they would "know" for sure if it was a choice, was it if it was a choice that they had to make.

God LOVES ALL people regardless of sexual orientation.
I am NOT ignorant!!!
I am an opened-minded, loving, nonjudgmental Christian.
I know people who I feel homosexuality was NOT a choice and some I feel it is by choice.
Why should I try it??? I know what I am and have no reasons to experiment!!!
If I didn't, why shouldn't I try to find myself???

I really don't think it matters if it's a choice or not. We should all be free to choose who we love.

Homosexuality is not a choice, which is why it is not forbidden by God. But behavior, including homosexual behavior, is always a choice. It is ungodly behavior that God condemns. He doesn't condemn people just because they suffer from a psychosocial disorder.

Homosexuality is nothing but lust. All people have certain desires. The choice is to act upon them. some one who is heterosexual chooses to act upon the urge, someone who likes animals chooses to act upon the urge.
