What percent of the congregation of your church, in your opinion, is there primarily for spiritual reasons rather than for the gossip, punch and cookies, and networking opportunities?

Please give the denomination of the church and a ballpark of how many people are there on a typical Sunday.

For example, the church I attended growing up (and still get roped into going to once in a while for the sake of family unity): Methodist, 400ish, maybe 40% for spiritual message or education. Not exactly a pious crowd.

I'm LCMS Lutheran. During Mass, there are usually about 60-80 people (I go to church in a tiny German-American farm town in Missouri, ja) who attend. I can't give a percentage of people who are there for the right reasons, but I'm willing to say that the percentage is probably fairly high. I say that because most of the people are older than me (I'm 28), and the ones who aren't are generally there of their own free will; their mothers don't yank them into church by their ears. After Mass, we have Bible study, and there are usually 30 or 40 old-timers there. I'm always the youngest one there, and I'm always impressed by their knowledge, so I have to say that the percentage is pretty high.

A congregation is a grouping of folks introduced in combination for a motive at a particular time and location. Typically, on Sunday morning, there's a "congregation" in a church, for instance. Based on the truth that the usual utilization is devout, it perhaps pronouncing that they're welcoming devout folks, although devout folks more often than not exclude them. Alternatively, it would simply be utilizing the phrase for its literal definition and which means to welcome all people who got here to Pride.

We are a non-denominational group of believers who fellowship in houses and schools ect. We have currently about 12 believers. We share the duties of prayer, lessons and giving communion. only twice this year has some one not been there and they were out of the state on vacation. We basically have near 100% there on Sunday. We do not have food and no networking opportunities.

I don't go to church every Sunday- and it is not because there will be no punch and cookies that Sunday ( LOL that was pretty funny though)
I am still praying for the Lord to lead my family to a church closer to where we live- that teaches the word of God, word for word.
I LOVE to hear the word of God. Infact I love it so much that I am selfish at times to help out in the children's ministry! (because that would mean I would miss the sermon) Ahhhhh!

To be honest....I would guess maybe 70% of the church I attend now. In many churches, I would say it is about 40%.
Thanks for the wake up call.
It helps me to know that I am in a pretty good church.
