Try putting your puppies crate in your bedroom. This will help him feel a little more secure since he'll be close to you.

When I have a puppy, the first thing I do is crate train them. This also serves as a secure place with a natural denning instinct. Keep the crate a positive thing! I'll put treats and feed him his dinner in there the first couple of days. When the pup is in there and starts to whine, I completely ignore him. It took several days to learn that when he cried I wouldn't come for him. Excercise him right before bed time too, so he'll be more tired through the evening. I kept my fan blowing all night in my bedroom, so I couldn't hear my puppy cry and whine. Don't forget to take him out to go potty often too. Good Luck, I hope I helped.

Well....you could give up and let it come to bed and sleep with you. Our three most recent dogs....all three we said "NO...this one is NOT going to be beddog"...yeah, right. Hubby would listen to that whimpering for about 5 minutes, grumble, grunt, and bring baby to bed. I know, I know....not a good idea. But....they sure are quiet. They snuggle down under the covers, and stay put pretty much the whole night. Probably afraid that if they wake us up, they'll have to go to their crates. :O) Yeah, they're spoiled rotten. As the other side effect of it, we've had to go from a queen sized to a king sized bed, just to have room for the "furkids". But seriously, the puppy is probably crying because they are pack animals, and if it is in another room by itself in a crate, it probably feels terribly vulnerable and alone. They want to be part of a pack. So moving the crate into your bedroom might help ease it's fears.

Maybe your puppy needs to use the restroom. Try putting a towel in its bed. Or let it sleep next to your bed and hang your hand off the side that is what we did for our puppy and she didn't cry anymore at night she was just lonely.

How old is the pup? First few days can be extremely stressful.
IMHO, if the pup is really young ..8-10 weeks, she should be sleeping next to the owner for first few days.
But that's just my opinion.

Put a big teddy bear in the crate or whatever u have him in. sometimes they will snuggle up to it. also feed him and take him out to use the bathroom before bedtime cause puppies with a full belly will sleep much better.

I tried that too. Are you kennel training the puppy? What I ended up doing was putting the kennel in my bedroom near enough to my bed that he could see me.

I have found "sometimes" that a well work sock in his bed will help. being able to smell you give them comfort.
Believe it or not this will pass and you and your new puppy will come to terms with each other.
Good luck.
