i just bought a new comp and backed up all my files from my old comp onto DVD using Roxio. the project took 4 dvds and the roxio spread the files across all 4 discs, which seems very stupid.

when i tried to recover them on the new comp using roxio again, i lost alot of stuff. any pictures that i had organized into folders cant be read. i get an error that says i have a corrupt or missing plug in. they are all jpegs.

i also lost an excel file with all my financial info for my job. excel says "the file is not in a recognizable format".

Have you tried restoring them starting with the first DVD you started the backup with? Some programs are picky that way. Or if you just burned items individually, then it may not have read the information correctly. Personally, I use Nero, which has been great. I never have trusted Roxio ever since it messed up my parents' computer a while back, as well as a few other people's I know. Try using a different software to read the DVDs.
