What was the problem? I've also noticed my windshield wipers sometimes won't turn on high. I have to hit my steering column for them to kick on high. I saw a recall notice for wiring in the steering column that affects the HVAC blower. I'm guessing that's what the problem is. Any other suggestions?

the blower motor could be a few things. it could be the resistor, the motor, the ignition switch, or the wiring from the switch to teh blower motor from the ignition switch could be burnt. most likely if your truck was covered by the recall, its probably the wiring, and it may have taken the ignition switch with it. the recall kit replaces the positive wiring from the bulkhead to the ignition switch, then to the blower motor. this is a pretty important recall to get done because of the fire danger. the wiper problem is most likely the multifunction switch.

Dodge has had a boat load of switch problems related to over amperage at the ignition switch caused by the blower motor. Go to you're Dodge dealer and run the VIN to see if yours has been done. If yours is one on the list, it has a life time warranty on the recall. ALL recalls are life time warranted. It involves a wire harness overlay with relay, Replacing the ignition switch wire connector, and the ignition switch if needed. NO matter who owens the truck, It's warranted until it goes to the wrecking yard.
