The title pretty much sums it up. It all seems like a tapestry of lies. In my opinion people follow it blindly. I studied the history and it's based primarily on bullshit and corruption. I'm honestly considering converting, I just don't know what to. Any comments? Here we go.

James 1:27, "PURE RELIGION AND UNDEFILED BEFORE

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND ANY MAN MADE CHURCH INORDER TO HAVE FAITH AND LOVE

Let' go through this one piece at a time:

<>

Where is the pun? Your faith should be placed in God, Catholicism is the Way your faith should compell you to worship God. "Catholicism" means "universal". It sums up the Church quite nicely, yes. However, I get the feeling your impression of the universal Church is different from mine.

<>

What are the lies that make up this alleged "tapestry"? The fact you have not furnished even one example of these alleged lies isn't helping your argument at all.

<>

The Church freely allows it's members to choose to follow God. It does not force it's members. People can come and go as they please in the Church. Perhaps you are confusing the choice to believe without question for blind faith?

<>

Curb the profanity. It adds nothing to your argument. That is, unless you are attempting to appeal to the lowest common denominator. If that be the case, you are simply looking for affirmation of your own opinions. You are not necessarilly looking for honest opinions.

Your statement might be taken more seriously if you were to provide examples of this alleged "corruption" and what not.

<>

Here we go, indeed. I'll be blunt. You don't know enough about the Church in order to make an informed decision. Rather than spouting off on the Church, you should be making efforts to learn more about the Church's beliefs and practices.

Might I suggest obtaining a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church? It will inform you on the beliefs and practices of the Church and, more importantly, explain why they are what they are.

Try reading some of the Early Church Fathers - these were the guys living in the generations after the Apostles died. So very close to the source, so to speak.

Once you go deep into history, you will be surprised at how familiar it feels to you, because the Catholic Church is still very much the same.

Has there been corruption in our history? Of course. We're all fallible humans. But, you are in the Church that Christ founded, so please investigate a bit deeper. Don't leave Peter because of Judas.

Do what you feel you have to do.

But do not confuse the faith, hope, and love of over one billion Catholic Christians in relationship with God with the acts of a few individuals.

The Catholic Church:
+ Has always been full of recovering sinners, some of whom failed.
+ Is full of recovering sinners, some of whom are failing.
+ Will always be full of recovering sinners, some of whom will fail.

In fact, any organization in the world is populated by sinners. There is an old saying that goes: If you ever find a perfect church, you and I will join it and then it will no longer be perfect.

Another point: Have you been reading history written by anti-Catholics? Much of the readily available history of the Catholic Church has been written by people with an axe to grind with the Catholic Church.

Actual Church history is probably not as corrupt as you have been told. Although there have been bad moments.

With love in Christ.

I WAS Catholic and turned to Wicca. Yet, I still respect them since my family is still Catholic. I trace my belief back to the Druids, long before the Christian beliefs. I am in my late 40's and started studying in my late 20's to early 30's, so I am old enough to make my own decisions in my life. If you are over 18 and closer to 21, I would say that it is up to you if you want to leave or stay. With a lot of studying you can make your decision on what path you wish to take, and believe me when I say there are a lot of choices. Good luck on your decision!

Good luck. Every faith has people in it that lie and are corrupt. if you look at your own life, I am sure you will discover lies and personal moral corruption.

Look at the teachings of the Catholic Church. Study what the catholic Church teaches about the nature of god, thae nature of Man and the relationship between God and Man and how man should act towards his fellow man.

Midge, behave yourself

If you studied actual history, then you wouldn't feel this way, unless you don't love God. (which I'm not suggesting). True, many people are Catholic only in a cultural sense, which is very sad. I would suggest that if you studied the history of your ancestors, you would likely fine some who would be considered less than upstanding - that wouldn't make your family as a whole bs and corrupt though.

Dylan! Dylan! If you actually read the history of the church, you wouldn't have left the Catholic Church!!! A lot of others have done so and many like Scott Hahn have converted to the Catholic Church!!! God loves you and I will pray for you!!!

Go to a "faith" that centers around the Bible

I've looked into a dozen or more and the Baptists have the most solid doctrine, but they can be a bit "stand offish" - there are a lot of nondenominational groups out there that are Bible centered

I was raised a "pseudo-Catholic", became an atheist in college, and sat down to read the Bible to prove it wrong to save my family and friends from their unwarranted fears of hell, the devil, a vengeful God, and other such nonsense.

After reading Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John...everything changed. I was amazed at what I read. If nothing else, at least read Matthew, chapters 5-7 and the book of John.

You might be very surprised with what you read.

Until this last century, the Catholic church was all in latin (so no one heard the Word of God) and they did not allow non-preists to even read the Word of God on their own.

Of course, in the "dark ages", the Catholic church became full of BS and corruption, as you stated...kind of like the "peak" of its evil.

In any event, I would suggest you read the passages I mentioned above. Go get a NIV study Bible...like the "Quest".

Ask yourself these Questions.

Do you go Visit the Blessed Sacrament of Adoration on occasion, how about confession and church?

Do you pray with your heart in it to our dear Lord, and have you asked Him and the Holy Spirit to guide you?

Also, if you are fed up because of people being hypocrites or the priests doing this and that, consider this. Don't worry about their souls. I would be very concerned about my own. The church is made of sinners some really good and some really bad. But we all go, right for God's love is still with us always.

See a priest or a counselor before giving up.

God bless you always, sir.

Dylan, on a more personal note, sir check out:

YOUTUBE: Type in "Ave Maria" sung by Perry Como.
It is a song tribute to the Blessed Virgin and Jesus. Your faith will be restored, and thinking of you.
