Apart from religious beliefs, I am personally affected a lot by Gita and Ganghiji( father of nation-India). I derive alot fo peace by reading Ramayana. These are really not religious books but a bench-mark for human beings. I learn from new paper that now some uni. is thinking to teach Ramayana in business management faculty since the advice from Rama to Bharat as to how to run state administration is an exemplary piece of business management!
Coming to your point, what affects me most,
1. u can't escape from result of ur acts(good or bad) in this or future births. So, try to do only good acts and avoid bad ones even for some temporary gains.
2. Practise detachment. This means have worldly pleasures but don't get drowned into it so that even if u don't get them some time, u r not unhappy.
3. God is ONE, whichever name you give him.
4. When in controversy, try to look at the matter from weaker's point of view, u will get an amicable solution.
5. Respect all and behave well with all particularly strangers.
6. Forgiving others, gives you adivine pleasure. (looks odd but do try once)
7. Be plain at heart.
8. Keep your needs to minimum. It solves most of the problems.
9. being alone is better than being in bad company.

My personal beliefs are to to be the best person I can, to try and listen to others that have something to say and not make everything about me. That would be a drag anyways. I live by the good morals that my parents and Grandparents taught me and none of them went to church or tried to push any kind of religion down my throat either. That taught me that we all have choice in what we decide. we do, what we think and so on. So, I live by the morals that my family taught me and I was taught that it takes a village to raise a child.
That village did a good job and I would do nothing to let the village down.

Before I became a Christian, my morals were subject to change to suit what was going on in my life. I had one golden rule though, never take someone else's bloke, and I never did. However, now I am a Christian, I am free of all that uncertainty. It s much more sensible to know the rules are in place and I can live by them, or be forgiven when I fall.

My personal beliefs and morals as to how I live my life are entwined with my religious beliefs...there is no place where one ends and the other begins.
Everything I have, and everything I am belongs to Jesus Christ, my Lord and my God.

As an atheist I obey the law.
I respect ALL human beings.
I look after my family, friends and anyone in need.
I treat others as I would like to be treated.
I build bonds of friendship wherever I can.
I despise frauds and hypocrites but respect criminals because they are honest in what they do, even though wrong.

Every one deserves to be treated with respect! If you can help anyone then help them.Nobody is better than anyone, famous or not, rich or poor.Be thankful for everything in your life, there is always someone who is worse off.Raise your kids with the same belief.I'm an atheist!

There are only three rules:
1) Try your best
2) Treat others with respect
3) Tell the truth as best you know it.

Personal beliefs and morals are usually (if not always) guided, or at least very heavily influenced, by a person's religious beliefs.
A person who is serious about their religion cannot separate personal from spiritual since religion is personal.

Edited to answer -
No, I am not saying that atheists are without morals.
I am saying that most people who do claim a religion cannot help but be guided by those religious beliefs.

Morals are not necessarily incumbent upon religion.
But those who do follow a religion will more than likely reflect those religious beliefs in their morals and personal beliefs, choices, etc.

Thank you for giving me the chance to clarify.

don't believe in the man made God....but "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is a pretty good way of living.

be as nice as people are to me...if they arnt then i walk away or tell them so!

laugh at my enemies...i weakens them and gives me power.

look in a mirror at least once a day to check I'm still me and smile!
enjoy it while it lasts.
