Was it a BAD GIFT?

Question

I bought my friend a heart shaped necklace for her birthday. I didnt know what to get her. I asked a mutual friend and she said jewerly. I didnt want this gift to say too much or anything at all, but she said it wouldn't, so I found a heart shaped neckalce. A couple days after i gave it to her I asked if she liked it. She said "I guess". the mutual friend asked if she liked it and she said "yeah, it was weird".

Usually jewelry represents love and affection especially any heart shaped jewelry. Even though your intentions may not have been to imply love or affection, perhaps she does. I don't think it was a bad gift, and she obviously liked it or she would have returned it to you by now. Perhaps, you should speak with her and relate your intentions that it was a mere gift of your friendship, and not presumably a gift of love and affection.

Usually jewelry represents love or affection, so even though you may not have meant for it to represent that, she probably assoiciates jewelry with that. It wasn't a bad gift if she liked it. If she didn't like the necklace, then it was a bad gift. Maybe you should set aside some time to talk to her and let her know that gift was based on friendship only and that you don't want her to get the wrong opinion and you hope she likes it.

No not a bad gift, tell her you thought that she was a sweetheart so thats all you could think about when you were shopping and there it was! :) Dont sweat it, tell her straight up that if she dosent like it you can give her the reciept and she can go and exchange it, but she needs to tell you what she likes and not make it so hard next time :) :) Be happy, your a great friend for giving it to her and a good person.
