u kno how people can picture their life like years from now. i'm in my late 20's just graduate college and i try to picture my life and i swear i draw a blank. i can't see myself! I don't have an urge to have kids like most women do and I don't see MY future and I don't "feel" a future for me like others do. maybe I don't see a future b/c I'm not gonna have one, could that be? does this mean i'm gonna die young?? I say that cuz some celebrities that died -- it's been said they "knew" they weren't going to get old and die - they were gonna check out before their time. how do I know this isn't me too - i'm worried.

No that doesn't mean you are going to definitely die young. I feel it means more that you don't know what you want out of life than anything. your desire not to have kids doesn't mean anything either. I feel that means more like you don't know what you want for your future so you just cant see having children without knowing what you want for you. Personally I think that is a very mature decision. I feel you need some direction and a lot of self esteem.

Thinking this way could drive you "bonkers". A lot of people on here (including me) worry about death....for no really good reason. You don't be needing to be looking for a reason to worry about it. Maybe not "expecting" to do certain things in your future is good....you won't be expecting a lot and won't be disappointed. When I graduated from college..I didn't know what I wanted to do either. I was a teacher ,but I wasn't old enough to think of it as a profession. You kinda" die" all the time...when you change from one lifestyle to the next. You've "died " to college...it's in your past. Now you're beginning a new "life". That doesn't mean you actually were dead in the ground and came back to life. Believe me...when you get older...you'll realize how much you changed and you won't even recognize the person you were in the past. Example...I miss "me". lol I'm a completely different person now. So just try to think of it that way. The person you're "grieving" for is the one you're leaving behind in college. Just try to be the best person you can be and live the best life you can live and honor God the best you can. 'There's not really much more you can do (except go to the dr. and have a check up...for your peace of mind.) Have a good life. And HAVE FUN !!!!

Like you, I am 29 and have the same problem. Right now I am trying to become a police officer, and when I was younger I can remember going through what you are going through, could that be my path? The fact is life life in today not tomorrow, and you don't die before your time, you die when it's time, plain and simple. If you are going to go tomorrow, there is nothing you can do about it.

Live your life 1 day at a time, and deal with tomorrow when it gets here, that has helped me deal with my anxiety about it.

It could be a sign of depression. Or you just might be at a place right now where you simply DON'T KNOW what you want to do with your life. I'm at a spot like that, myself. Can't have what I REALLY want, so what to do? I'm drawing a blank as well, but that doesn't mean I'm going to die.

I say, live in the moment cause that's all we have. Don't worry about tomorrow so much. I don't have children and I'm quite content. I can always adopt later if I feel like it. The important thing is to be happy in the moment. More people die from stress of worrying about their future goals, not meeting them, etc....

My entire life I could not picture myself past my senior year of high school. It's funny, I actually thought the same thing--that I was going to die sometime between senior year and high school. I didn't decide what I wanted to do with my life until November of my senior year--I applied to Pharmacy and Medical schools basically on a whim. 2 years into Pharmacy school and I'm still Alive.

You'll be fine.

No, it doesn't mean that you are going to die. It just means that you are open to whatever the future might bring you. That's much more exiting than having everything planned out. And just because people can picture their future doesn't mean it will be just like it, on the contrary.

Just think of the thousands (or millions!) of people who say that, but live to be 100!

You just need to set a goal. What is your passion? You may just be lost right now. But something good will come along, and I'm confident you WILL find that passion. Do you love this website? Do you love giving advice and helping others? Maybe you want to be a teacher, a counselor, a vet, or a psychiatrist?

You'll figure it out. I'm sure of it. Good luck, my friend. :)

Life is what happens to you while making plans. Not picturing a future doesn't mean you will die, just meander through life searching for a purpose.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees......... I am twice your age and have never felt the urge to reproduce, at the age of 21 I thought I was going to die but I'm still here.

My suggestion is get out there and enjoy life I did - at least now I have memories of making the most of my youth.

What memories can you make?
