We need to hire independent sales reps to sell our food catering business services. Does anyone know how to go about hiring them, and how much is the industry average commission. Thank you

Avon Products, Inc. have been doing this for years. Place ads in newspapers. Commission depends on the amount of sales.
Avon starts with a simple sales kit that costs the new sales rep. $10.
The first 4 to 5 times that they place an order of $50 or more they get a 50% sales commission after that, in order to get 50% sales commission their sales have to be $1,500 or more in retail sales.
You might check with an Avon person to see how they do it.
Or if you want to email me, I used to sell Avon, but don't have the spare time anymore.
But I think I still have some of the commission scales if you think it would help.

Just because a commission chart works with one business doesn't mean it will work for another. You have to consider your overhead costs in order to determine any commissions.
Once you figure your expenses, figure out the profit margin before determining a commission percentage. It wouldn't do much good to have sales reps to boost your business if you are paying all your profits out in commissions.
