My advice: Do what you are good at and like; if you have to choose between the two, do what you are good at because your likes can change easier.

depending on how old you are and the level of urgency, i'd say engage in some volunteer opportunities to see what you're drawn to. take some elective courses. find out what your passion is and let that lead you. do you like children, are you good at math and science, do you like to engage in debates? these and other questions will help you determine what your major should be. whatever you decide to do, make sure it is something that you want to do, as opposed to doing it for the paycheck. at the end of the day you want to feel that you've made a difference and that what you're doing brings you satisfaction. i wish you the best...

Have you taken a career interest test? There are a lot of them around where you rate things you enjoy doing and things that really irritate you to do. Then they make suggestions as to what jobs a person like you might enjoy. Look around on the net, or look at your college's student services office. They often will test you to find your preferences, strengths & weaknesses.
Besides that, I would take a wide range of studies during my first year and see what really holds your interest. With me, it was psychology & english & accounting. Accounting turned out to be too book oriented and not people oriented. Psychology is still an interest of mine, but I really like to write. And I like to help people--old people, sick people. And to my surprise, my current employment--I love flowers. I love to choose them, buy them, get them ready and arrange them. And then, I love to give them away.
Take care sweetheart. Find that test, see if it helps, and if not, just take a pot luck of classes and see what toots your horn.
