Get a good night's sleep the night before your presentation. As someone else said, eat a good breakfast. Breathe deeply, just before you start speaking. Remember, everyone else you are looking at is probably worrying about *their* presentation. Understand also, that 50 years from now, you'll never know the difference. (That was my Dad's favorite phrase to me, when I was nervous about speaking before a class. I went on to be a graduation speaker.)

Be sure you have notes in front of you (if they are allowed.) Remember, it is only for a few minutes. And afterward, you will feel great.

I wish you good luck on your presentation. You'll do great!

Do you know how to meditate? You take slow deep breaths and listen to only the breaths. Count them if you like. Close your eyes. Don't listen to anything else, just the breath sounds in your chest. Concentrate hard on the deep breathing for at least 2 mins. It helps a lot.

Don't be nervous about the people--they're just kids like you, they're just people. They are rooting for you to do well, because, like you, they are nervous and would like to do well.

You need to know your topic inside & out. Practice in front of a mirror, the whole speech including any visual aides you may have. Several times.

Confidence comes with the knowledge that you can control your anxiety (meditation), you know what you're talking about, and that you've prepared yourself for the speech.

P.S. Dress for success. Comb your hair. Wear your nice shoes. Wash your face. Make sure your socks match.

You'll be fine.

Mine are 17 and 21.

Funny story (if you don't mind spending the time). My son had to give a speech about our current president, as though he were the president. So he found "hail to the chief" on the net and downloaded it. He put on his suit, and we got some hair spray stuff that made him look gray-haired. He also picked up little American flags and handed them to his friends.

On cue, a friend started the music. Joel cupped his hands as though he were the announcer and said, "All rise for the President of the United States!" His friends stood up and cheered and waved the flags. He waved back at the crowd and signaled them to have a seat. Then he went on to give his speech. It was a real hoot. A+

Channel that energy into excitement. Look at people's forehead or chin. Looking in someone's eyes might make you more nervous. Take deep breaths. Speak loudly. Have a prop that helps keep you on track. Have a friend sit in the front row if that will help.

Deep breathing helps. Breathe in for 5 seconds, out for 10, several times. Try some yoga or stretch out beforehand. Practice in the mirror so you will see how you appear to others. You could always try the old trick of picturing everyone in the underwear;-) good luck.

Hey eat a good breakfast and look above past their heads. More than likely they are not really listening for they all are just as nervous as you are and are sitting there fretting about all they are going to say as well.

Close your eyes, breathe in through the nose and out the mouth repeatedly, and remind yourself that there's better ways to spend life than shaking.
