Legal Residence, or Home of Record? you CAN change Legal residence. you cannot change HoR. simply a matter of tax forms.

There is nothing to prevent you from changing your home of record. Many service personnel change their home of record to Texas or Florida as there are no personal state income taxes in those states.

Your legal residence is where you physically live. It changes when you move.
