Can you find a balance between the two?

2007-09-28 11:03:18 · 11 answers · asked by ? 6 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

Kerilyn*, I followed my heart, I expressed myself. I was happy for a while then the society failed me, they couldn't accept my ideas. It gets me lonely sometimes. But in any case I feel myself and I like it.
Thanks Kerilyn*.

YOU should NOT let society or other people around you influence you to the point that they control your life...

YOU really do need to follow your HEART.
Because that is the only way you can
truly be happy!!
and
if you don't you might regret it
THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.!

Some of them you have to keep if you don't want to break the laws of the land. Others are personal decisions. And yes, you can find a balance between the two.

Unless you want to be a hermit, you have to accept some of the norms of society. You should do what will contribute to the advancement and well-being of your family, neighborhood, country, and mankind in general, in that order.

follow your own heart. why the **** should you care what they think? of course it's impossible to completely be a like this, you'll always have your insecure moments and conforming moments, but to follow a group just to be in it is no way to live. so, if you aren't completely brainwashed by a group already or your friends, then you're in the norm.

Why would you choose to submit to a standard of conduct proclaimed to be the will of a deity by an ideological authority who leads a community of faithful believers, when it is a lie for this ideological authority to claim that myth is truth?

Follow God's will and Christs' way in all things. Strive to NOT be submissive to the norms of society, and stand up for God.

i don't think of everybody is being brainwashed by using television or magazines...i think of on occasion a tutor is completely a tutor. to boot that, many shows are societal commentaries in and of themselves, and a variety of of different comedy shows parody specific circumstances in society approximately, as an occasion, people who imitate others too a lot. i assume it is unusual for me to disagree with you, by using fact for one ingredient i'm incredibly specific i don't greater healthful into the class of human beings you're speaking approximately - the final ingredient all people who's accustomed to me could say approximately me is that I persist with too many social norms. i ended examining Seventeen a pair years in the past by using fact i found out I by no skill extremely bothered to stay with the advice it gave, so why would desire to I examine it? i don't care what's "cool" or "uncool". in spite of the shown fact that, for the human beings who do examine trend magazines, that is not as though this is their existence, and that they are being decrease off from each little thing "genuine" in the international. maximum folk purely think of on the subject of the stereotypical client of T.V., yet there are a lot of "nerds" who watch quite a few T.V. and don't grow to be brainwashed to be merely like everybody else - although this would count at one in all those tutor being watched. this is yet another ingredient: there are a lot of distinctive shows, not all of them have the comparable messages. you're probable touching on shows like Gilmore ladies or Zoey a hundred and one, yet shows like homestead or CSI or 30 Rock or the Simpsons have not got many messages on the subject of how you "would desire to" act to be "cool" or some thing - like I mentioned, they're merely shows.

Like you Zalem, I'd follow my heart. Knowing my heart as I do, I know that it'd lead me to a safe and loving decision, and a surrealistically beautiful ending.

"Victory favors the bold"

"No risk, no reward"

"No guts, no glory"

I could go on listing cliches, but I think you get the point.
