Heavy cream (also sold as Heavy Whipping Cream) is in the the dairy case/aisle near the canned whipped creams.

Heavy cream contains at least 36% dairy fat, while whipping cream/light whipping cream contains anywhere from 30% to 36% dairy fat.

Heavy cream is cream that has some of the milk solids removed so that the butterfat content is increased. Typically the fat content is about 30-31% but sometimes I've seen it as low as 26%. It can make some very tastey dished. It is also called whipping cream because there is enough fat to be able to whip it into a foam. If you try to whip it be sure to used a cold bowl and very clean utensiles or you will break the emulsion. Hope this helps.

Is another term for heavy whipping cream. It's usually found on the top shelf of the dairy isle above the regular milk along side the half & half.
