Theists: What quality does a living organism possess which necessitates its creation by an intelligent entity, and wouldn't its creator also possess that quality (in order to pass it on to the organism) and therefore also require a creator for *its* existence?

Hoosier Daddy: Since my limited human mind is all I have to think with, I'd better think with it, or not at all, hadn't I? :-)

Truthurts: Trouble is, when you actually examine that concept, it's clearly nonsense.

Most people, lacking the knowlege of mathematics and physics to imagine a rational reason for existence, jump at the first irrational one they can think of. They justify that leap by saying their limited mind is incapable of understanding the issue. It is really not, they are just too lazy to spend the years of education and study that would be necessary. Maybe if they would just be honest enough to admit they were too lazy to search for a rational answer they would not feel the need to come up with an unjustified irrational one.

Can an (quasi-)omniscient being pose a question so baffling even it couldn't answer it?
Yes: Where did *I* come from?
Edit: To Hoosier -- I am not atheist, I am agnostic - or more precisely, I am ignostic - and you are correct, to a degree. It is entirely possible that things exist that transcend human experience. However, one can only understand those things one can understand - from his or her perspective and with his or her own limitations. We will probably never understand the nature of space/time/charge/etc but yet we can do everything we can to probe further into our universe and into our psyche. That is our nature as human beings. If there is a God, I can't think of any better thing He would rather us do.

Why is it that we assume that things were created.
The use of the word itself assumes a creator and we are limited in our thinking by the words we use.
Using the word creation to describe reality and things in it is a not very subtle trap. Be careful about your choices of words.

Once the wheels of evolution are set into motion, what develops is a natural occurrance. The initial PLAN is intelligently designed. Cells continue to replicate and evolve of their own accord. They do not possess the quality of mind (logical thinking and rationalization). There is that single spark of mindal energy which had to exist to begin the whole process. The energy spark's creator is unknown. It's really not important though, it still makes Him the head honcho.

Some scientist believe that the energy for the big bang came from spontaneous matter, they implied that some matter can form from nothing in space.
So that means everything comes from Nothing.
Hey I've created another paradox :)

I don't think you've found the mark on this Icarus... There's something messed up in the question. A super-being would have the ability to surmount the problem you posed, wouldn't it?...
Just thinking out loud here...

God doesn't pass on his sovereignty, his omnipresence, his omniscience to his creation. He has qualities that we don't yet know about too, but we know that creating living and breathing beings is not all that God creates nor is it all that he is.

Look around you, and tell me, if what created these things, like mountians, stars, sky, is a creation itself, then surely you would find faults in them. The Creator is outside the Creation.
