Purpose.

A purpose is the reason we feel, that we are here on earth. Some believe a purpose something given by a god. Some believe that we give ourselves our own purpose. I personally don't really care why I'm here; I want to shape my own destiny.

Anyways a query to different people.

To thesists; Is your purpose in your religion, or in something else in your life. Why?

To Atheists/agnostics; What is YOUR purpose, and why if not in religion?

We make our own purposes. Only childish intellects expect the universe to provide them for us.

Well I can honestly tell you that every one of us has a purpose in life. We all have bodily functions, organs, and body systems that have a purpose so why is it so hard to think that we as a whole have a purpose also? And yes you can shape your own destiny God is just there to help lead you on the right path He wants you to go okay?
My purpose is to love (God), learn and live. That's all there is to it. Because when we die we will take nothing we have accomplished in life with us. Only a sense of accomplishment and our feelings are the only thing we can truly keep with us. How would you feel you lived your life at the end of your time? Fullfilling life? with God, love and happiness? That is how I wish to feel when I die. Happy and content that God has a better life for me in Heaven. Religion is just a word meaning organization. My own life is between me and God, no religion at all. God Bless.

My purpose is the same as the purpose of a single grain of sand. It is the state of ceaselessly becoming. This could be a religion, and it could not be. The difference between the two is illusory.

How can you shape your own destiny? If it was destiny, then you weren't in control of it. If you are autonomous, how can you have destiny, unless you do something and then define it as your destiny?

A dream that becomes true is a prophecy, but if it does not then it's just another dream.

My purpose in life is to have a close relationship with Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ.
Before I learned about Jehovah my life had no purpose. I didn't know why I was here or where I was headed. Once I studied with Jehovah's Witnesses all that changed.
I want to live forever in a beautiful paradise here on earth. Not earth as we see it now, but after God cleanses it off all the problems we see happening around us.
No more sickness, old age, death, wars, and so on. That's my purpose in life to make it into the paradise and continue serving Jehovah God.

Atheist here, well I didn't choose life, my parents had sex and boom so I'm here. My purpose is to make the best of life, be happy, just have fun and try to enjoy the time that I am here. Also to try to contribute to society in a good way, so that future generations have it better than the older generations. So yeah, that's my purpose.

I don't believe I need a purpose. I do feel that while I am here I want to be the best mama I can be to my little boys and raise them to have a kind and caring heart and to make a difference in the world, no matter how small.

Vision:

Math 24:14 LITV
And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then will come the end.

My Vision is to help bring the the Gospel of the Kingdom to all the nations (not the gospel of salvation, Click here to see the difference: Click here ), to help usher in the reign of Christ.

Also, to make available Kingdom and discipleship teachings for the church, the overcomers, and those believers after the rapture.

Focus:

1 Cor 9:25: MKJV
25 And everyone who strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Then those truly that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

God has called me to be a balance. I try not to minister in extremes. I try to filter all my doctrine and teaching through this principle.

It is my belief, that the people and church of God, in some capacity, in most cases, seek after His truth. During the coarse of history the church became divided. It is my belief, that you can find pieces of truth from perhaps every denomination and movement of God. I like to say, "A broken clock is right twice a day." Therefore, I try to even see where God has used those people whom I even disagree with. It is the pride of man that often separates men, and keeps them from seeing the work of God in others. Perhaps, how I have dealt with my greatest spiritual father, Watchman Nee, is a good example of separating out what he mixed into God's revelations. Watchman Nee was a very balanced teacher, except when it came to entertainment. He condemns any entertainment that has any chance involved. He believes entertainment or games should have skill only. He even condemned the mixture of skill and chance. Any game with cards or dice, he would condemn. Playing games like UNO or even children's games like CandyLand, would be wrong. Why did he take this stance? Because his own mother was addicted to gambling. From the great pain of gambling, he failed to see a balance in entertainment. Therefore, I take out his imbalances. I have done the same from other ministers; Randy Shankle, Kenneth Hagin, and so on. I have even gleaned truth from the Catholic church which protestants don't even teach about; the fiery judgment on unfaithful believers: Click here

Many christians are so quick to judge and condemn, but if we repent of pride, we can easily glean truth from people who have missed God in some part.

On the other side of the scale, we ought not to stand on truth just because others we agree with, believe it. We shouldn't build doctrine from tradition, nor refuse to listen to other doctrines because we or our group do not. Doctrines should be based on scripture alone. I go into detail about this kind of discernment here: How can you be sure what method is correct in finding God?

The meaning of life is living. The purpose of living is entertainment. I experience entertainment as a discovery and mystery of existence. I act in a drama of life and death. I perceive sensations of pleasure and pain. I feel the catharsis of comedy and tragedy. I fight in the conflict of predator and prey. I play a game of survival and sacrifice. I ponder the discovery and mystery of existence. I am free to choose from a variety and diversity of positive possible views of self and world in a body-consuming biosphere on a crusted magma globe with a sun and a moon reproducible in a galaxy of stars and a universe of galaxies. I make my choices from the point of view of a divine eternal soul spirit ordering the chaos of a fractal infernal temporal seed body.

There are different levels of purpose.
The ultimate purpose is in the creator of heaven and
earth - to worship the creator and to better understand
the things of both earth and heaven - temporal and eternity.
Then there are personal goals in various areas of life
such as family, health, career, ministry, etc.
Those are being worked out day by day!

I would say that purpose, as you have described it, is rooted in my faith. Religion is the means by which I express that faith. Of course, since the root of my faith is God and God is in my religion, I guess you could say that my purpose is within my religion. But being a Catholic Christian is not THE thing that defines me. (If this is making any sense.)
