BENEFITS:
- lower prices of goods because of lower wages to the illegals
- help the economy because it helps foreign economy
- more money spent in the US
- more GDP
- more diverse country
- sports and entertainment
- military (i believe there are 600,000 immigrants serving now)
CONSEQUENCES:
- competition for jobs (both skilled and nonskilled work)
- inadequate housing for illegals
- drain the economy because illegals aren't paying taxes and still use the welfare system and the workers compensation and emergency room. tax payers pay for this.
- illegal immigration causes discrimation to the "foreigners" who are here legally
- hostility among people because this issue is so controversial
- illegals are breaking the law, should we just allow that to happen and give them amnesty?

Another problem connected- Globalization- we don't need illegals coming over here to take the jobs because the business are already sending the jobs to them leaving americans workers unemployed.

The above aspect include both legal and illegal immigration impact. so no there aren't illegal in the military or in the sports and entertainment industry. geez... people use your brain. Having illegals helps our economy because they make money here and send it home and it help their economy which in turn helps our economy if there wasn't a benefit it wouldn't still exist.
CORRECTION: it's 60,000 legal immigrates that serve in the U.S. military.

I believe in legal immigration. If you want to live in the US, do it legally. Also, I don't feel that illegal aliens should be given Social Security benefits and free medical. We all have to pay into SS and pay for our medical, so why should it be free for illegals?

You've given good consideration to both sides of the problem. One thing you didn't consider though is the money not spent here because it is being sent back to the country of origin. That is millions of transactions per year through Western Union and if they can afford to do that...why ARE we watching our hospitals close (64 now in CA) and our schools busting at the seems with children of illegals? We don't need to provide food, shelter, education, and healthcare so they can spend their money as they please. It sounds like a pretty sweet deal but it's outright wrong. Our crime rates have skyrocketed with a direct correlation to illegals. They cost far more than they contribute and that isn't acceptable. CA is a wreck right now in so many ways. It all boils down to illegal, period. I'm really willing to pay more. I'm not sure that I understand the sports and entertainment benefit but I see none and wouldn't consider that a valid reason for amnesty anyway.

I do all I can to assist people immigrating LEGALLY and just as much AGAINST those skirting the system to do it illegally.

The most destructive and costly effect of ILLEGAL immigration has been the "anchor baby" factor. Those who debated and ratified the 14th Amendment made their positions clear concerning birthright citizenship to aliens: Aliens are EXCLUDED.

Their comments are recorded (written) verbatim in the Congressional Globe of the 39th Congress. No one we elected ever gave our country away. Only the Supreme Snort in their power voracity and God-complexed pride.

The only way for illegals to get their proverbial "better life" is to fix things in their own country.

Why not try to send all people back to their countries, don't get products to other countries, don't get anything, just use your own resources, and find out what will happen. Just a try and find out who needs anybody. Or, just think about it. Get a paper and try to solve the problem first in writing. Then, imagine if those foreigners are gone what do you think will happen. Like in one movie that I have watched " There are few people in a forest and because of that the animals multiplied so much. What do you think happen next? What I mean to say is" We need somebody and that somebody needs us also.

I went to a construction site and about 90% were mexicans. I was looking for work but since I do not speak spanish they did not understand me. They only spoke spanish therefore I think they were illegals. Its's not that Americans will not do the jobs it's that the employers won't hire them. because they don't want to pay the wages to U.S. citizens whch would be a little higher.
We need to crack down on the illigals and not give them amnesty. We need to seal the boarders and fine the employers that hire illigals.

this whole immigration issue is about "illegal" immigration...legal immigration is a plus in that it helps farmers and other companies to produce more necessary products for our country and as for more money here... more money is sent to Mexico from "illegal immigrants" that is not kept here at home... haven't you heard its the second biggest income for the Mexican people behind their oil....beside if you want to live here, no breaks....you pay taxes, you apply for health care and learn the English language... do what our own people have to do... earn it and work for it !

You forgot this:

Highly skilled professionals bringing university educations that other governments paid for & this country benifits from.

One third of all scientists are immigrants. Where would the USA be without a third of it's scientists?

Look at all the numerous Drs etc are here. Immigrants can be highly skilled people. Look at the present governor of CA. Madeline Albright was an immigrant too you know!

In any society the unskilled & uneducated will find a scape goat to blame their problems on as it removes the responsibility for their position in lives from themselves. Immigrants are that group for this group of us citizens these days. Misinformation is rife!!!!!!!!! IN this land of opportunity people have noone to blame but themselves if they are unhappy with their lot in life!

There is a right way & a wrong way to enter this country & my family came the right way - legally from Germany & Ireland - with a waiting period & being checked for disease. This protects the entire population.

The wrong way allows terrorists in & all kinds of other things that are undesirable.

A country has the right & duty to protect their borders, especially a sovereign nation like the U.S.

Strong border patrol & control, period.

All for legal immigration. Anyone with an ounce of logic is opposed to illegal immigration and the disastrous effects it has on the country.

Less money is spent in the U.S. because of illegal aliens.
How does it help our economy by giving our money to a foreign country?
Is that 600,000. illegal aliens that serve in our military?
Can you please connect the dots between sports and entertainment with immigration?

I would like to reply to your post, I just need a little clarification
