I don't hate non-believers. Alot of Christians were atheist at one point- look at CS Lewis! Atheists are always POTENTIAL Christians!

Probably because atheism pretty much implies an absence of religion (yes, I'm aware of non-theistic religions, but they're a minority among atheists) and the growth of atheism is therefore a direct threat to religion.
Considering the importance that a lot of religious believers give to their religion (i.e. it controls them and gives them a purpose, however sad that purpose may be, in their lives) they will be willing to go to quite some lengths to protect that religion, some of them are even willing to die for it, and it's a lot easier to hate someone who doesn't hold your beliefs than to be willing to die for your beliefs.
Then you've got the fact that a lot of religious believers are bought up under the mistaken notion that morality comes from a god and that without belief in a god one can not be moral along with the certainty that the religious delusion is true.

I'm not either atheist or religious, but I've come to find a lot of hatred from them. It's some of the arguments that get annoying. "The bible is stupid and made up and you're an idiot for believing in it." or "God is the only way to salvation. You're going to die in hell if you don't convert now." Neither of those are witty arguments and it sounds like both sides are being childish. People (sometimes) ask to be educated and want an genuine answer. They don't want a bashing and hateful things thrown at them when all they did was ask. "You're an idiot for believing this..." or "you're an idiot for believing that..." So what? Get over yourselves and just accept that people believe differently (that goes for all sides!) and you yelling at them won't change it. If they want to explore and ask questions, let them.

Why all the hate about believers? To answer your question (kinda) I have no hate toward anyone. Hating someone or something is way to stressful. It takes away from your own self -worth. It causes you to have enemys. Alot more than I feel like typing. It is so much easier to love one another and to be kind to each other.

I believe you are referring to discrimination against atheists. I don't think people should hate atheists, seeing as the Bible says, "Love the sinner, hate the sin." We are not to hate anyone whether they follow a religion/are Christians or not, just as atheists shouldn't hate Christians/religious people.

Christians don't understand.
They're mesmerized that we deny the existence of God even when there's a chance we'll have a blissful afterlife. Atheists find the Bible so ridiculous (even given the possible afterlife advantages) that we find it's too irrational to believe in. Christians don't like that.

Because I think that, deep down, most hard-core believers are aware on some dim level that they are being jerked around psychologically by religious doctrine. They then see atheists living without fear of some Cosmic Bully, enjoying 'sins of the flesh' without guilt, and feel envy. Since they've been trained since childhood to be intellectually dishonest with themselves, they don't admit they're envious--instead, they accuse atheists of being the scum of the Earth instead. Case in point are the people who will give this a thumbs down because I rattled their cages...

I don't hate atheists. They are free not to believe in anything, just as I am free to be a Pagan. I find that I have more in common with them than most other people, however.

Because we are brought up to believe that no "God" means no good. It is just like racism and other forms of discrimination. We are not born thinking that people who think differently then us are "wrong"..we were taught that.
