As someone said, the best translation in English is "let's see".
It's not a literal translation, but it's what it means and the way it's used.
As when you say in English:
"let's see what this is" = "a ver esto qué es"
"let's see what he thinks" = "a ver él qué piensa"
It's NOT used in the English context "Let's (go) see the new house". In this case you need to say "vamos a ver.....".

Contratulations! unlike some Spanish speaking people, you wrote A VER, instead of haber, which is another thing (verb to have).
