Unplug it, sell it, do what you have to do.

leave the house, go for a walk, go to a mall, just get moving.

Excellent question and star dispatched because I had this very problem and wondered how too. I was made to go and get a job and take up training for marathon running by the Mrs. I got an SIA Licence so I then got a job as a security guard in tandem with my training for marathon running during my time off, meaning a road run each day off of 6 to 12 miles or more when not at work. Once SIA licenced it is normal to have to work 80 or more hours per week including lots and lots of night shifts, weekends and most bank holidays like Christmas Day so my laziness was thus eliminated and wages coming in to support my wife and family. After your night shifts you will be too knackered to do anything except go to bed and sleep until time to get up for your training run then back to work, so absolutely no time to watch TV at home when off duty and no time to go drinking either. Also TV sets are banned on security sites. So you can not watch it at work either
QED.

The question you should be asking is:- how can i overcome this feeling that i am being lazy, and should stop watching telly?.

Typically this thought is caused by a form of 'telly cyncysm' you have become habituated to the sparkly offerings and nothing seems new or entertaining to you. Distracted from the main event your mind begins to wonder from the important task of watching.

This is a faze that many who follow the path must go through, before they can once again trully enjoy their viewing exeperience and the hours of delitfull leasure that the benefits of modern society provide. Have you tried changing your sofa? or did you change it recently? maybe a new tv dinner sofa side table will help or updating the remote control?

At this time you must be wary of the temptations that are provided by the activities available in the outside world. If you are lucky enough not to have to go food shopping for yourself then many of these temptations and distractions from the true way can be avoided. At this time you must be strong, buy an extra tv guide, or two, and keep of the internet, this is obviously a big distraction for you.

First you ask yourself what you could have been doing besides killing time watching tv. Is there a treadmill that is collecting dust in your house and a few pounds you want to lose? Is there a few classes your shy of from a college degree? Think about ways to improve your life and change your life instead of just watching tv which gets nothing accomplished. Granted some tv shows and movies improve your life but we both know your not talking about those shows. Just think of all the time you could be doing something else to improve or better your life. This is your life you wont get all this downtime back after you have spent it by watching tv. Go out there and enjoy life!

You must have some will power and make your mind up that you are going to limit your watching time. Decide what you are going to do with your free time and stick to it. Go out more even if it is only for a walk. Find a hobby or new interest something that will maybe take you out for a few hours and mix with people.Join a club or get a dog there's loads of more interesting things you can do besides watching TV.

At the beginning of the day, decide what you really want to watch, after looking at a TV guide. Just allow yourself 3 programmes to start with or maybe 4 depending on how addicted you are. Get out of the house at all other times - just watch the programmes you have decided on. Make a list of all the things you are going to do when you are not watching the TV and tick them off as you do them.

There is one way to do this and it is simple.... MOTIVATION!

Find something else that you enjoy doing and commit to it. This not only will cure the 't.v. addict' part but also the part of being lazy. You are the only one that can bring yourself from this and it takes motivation to achieve it as with any goals.

If you really want a change, you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to change your circumstances. You can hear motivation from family, friends and internet buffs but the final decision is up to you.

Motivational articles are excellent ways to keep focused on any goal. I have lots of them if you would like to have them. That decision, also is up to you. If you want them email me at bonnieram1962@yahoo.com and I will gladly pass them along.

Best of luck to you!

Just stay away from the room with the T.V. and find something to do that you like with your hands. If you have a T.V. in your room take it out and put away till you learn how to discipline yourself.

Have other, better things to do. If you're bored all the time, take a class, volunteer, start cooking, or get started on your "To Do Before I Die" list.
