Do you use benzoyl peroxide?

Question

Benzoyl peroxide works by causing a chemical reaction similar to unprotected sun exposure. If you do this two or three times a day with two or three different products do you think you might end up with skin cancer like the lab rats they use it on do?

uv rays are what cause skin cancer. i'm pretty sure. there's no uv rays in a pimple cream.

well, i take that back...

apparently, bp can cause free radicals and has been shown to cause tumors in lab mice.

i saw the link below. i might stop using it. i'll have to do more research on this too. good question.

Yep. Is the stuff called Panoxyl? Benzoyl Peroxide is used for acne, however it does dry out the skin, but any face moisturizer should fix that up for you. I use it, it's great. Also, if 10% is too much for you skin to handle (if it dries out your skin a lot and starts to irritate it as well), Panoxyl has 2.5% products as well. After I use 10% benzoyl peroxide, I have a moisturizer that I use on my face, and then on top of that I put sunscreen & my skin is fine. =)

When applied to skin benzoyl peroxide has been shown to induce cancer, but only when used at 100% concentrations; it has not been shown to do this at the far lower concentrations used for treating acne, and at lower concentrations benzoyl peroxide has not been found to be mutagenic or carcinogenic."

Benzoyl peroxide burned my skin and it was peeling just like a sunburn, so you could end up w/ cancer if you use it.

i would rub cucumber juice w/ lemon that would help alot. Good luck

i DO. My dad is a doc and he told me to use it. he uses it himself. it works
