Yes, I remember that. I think that smile was meant to psyche Marvin up, like "no, no that don't hurt, throw something harder". Well, as we all know, Hearns was already wobbly that time and Hagler did throw something harder and BOOM! Fight was over. It's the same strategy Ali and a host of other cocky fighters do when getting tagged - shaking their heads pretending it didn't hurt at all. I didn't know 'bout the ad though. It's funny. Thanks for sharing that.

I don't believe that smile was about him feeling merry, but a sign of him about to crash and burn. yeah ole tommy went down like a (DC 10) . Marvin beat the crust off the hitman , so he had a right to make a pizza hut ad. I think tommy broke his hand in that fight, he was favoring the right hand the whole fight after the 2nd round. It could have been another fight I'm thinking about tho...

He made him do more than just smile. Yeah your right, in the heat of the battle he gets hit then smile. You unintentionally do stupid things when you know your between a rock and a hard place. Unfortunately for us we never got the Americans ads but it sure sounds funny.

It was classic. They were the best two boxers at the time except for, oh, what was his name now? Oh yeah, Ray Leonard, who beat them both.
