There is some confusion about terminology used here. Catholics, some Lutherans, and others say the Apostles Creed. It is perhaps a bad translation. It says He descended into hell. This is not the hell of the dammed but the place of the dead who died before Christ died on the cross. They were in a very happy place, but did not share the full benefits of heaven until He went there to bring them to the fullness of heaven.

Yes Christians believe that He was more than a prophet. He Himself said that he was. Either He was the greatest liar that ever lived, or He was a madman, or He was a truth teller. Each time He asked His enemies, "Can any of you convict Me of sin?", they were silent. He said that He was one with God, that God was His father. He was true God and true man. You may disagree, but this is what I believe.

Jesus said John the Baptist was greater than all the OT prophets. Then Jesus said the least in the kingdom of God is greater than John the Baptist.

Anyway Hebrews 11 says those who came before Jesus, were saved by faith in the coming of the Messiah Jesus. We are saved by looking back at His finished work for our salvation.

The bible says that each and every person you will desire to do is have faith in Christ and you would be saved. yet i think of that's extra for people who're dying or specially circumstances. The bible says John 4 " My sheep understand my voice." So while you're no longer jogging in a dating with God you are able to't understand His voice. The bible additionally says that Matthew 7:sixteen "via their end result you shall understand them.' in fact that any one rather jogging with God can't stay the comparable existence they lived earlier jogging with Him. it rather isn't any longer approximately doing good works, however the skill justify the top. So why are you doing good works, do you like your neighbor, in case you do no longer, it rather is considered a sin in basic terms like stealing.God can see a guy or woman hearts ( soul) so in case you repent of sins just to declare words and don't mean it He can tell. yet His will is for us to understand Him that we would stay the existence He has deliberate for us and to be His hands and His coronary heart right here on earth.

Jesus told the thief that hung beside him, "Verily I say
unto thee, TO DAY SHALT THOU BE WITH ME IN
PARADISE"; Luke 23:43. Jesus' body spent 3 days
in the grave, but His Spirit, which is God the Spirit, can
never die. His Spirit was set free from the body and went
to paradise, just as did the thief's spirit.

1 Peter 3:18-19, "For Christ also hath once suffered for
sins, the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened BY THE
SPIRIT:::: By which also he went and preached unto the
spirits in prision". "By which" is by the same spirit that
raised him from the dead. God was in Noah and it was
through the Spirit of God that Noah preached to those
people. God will judge the "quick" and the "dead";
those "quickened by the Spirit" have life, but those who
have not been quickened by the Spirit, are spiritually dead.

I've never heard that one. It's certainly not Biblical, unless by a stretched interpretation. Perhaps some Christians believe they are better, but I would say it is far from mainstream Christianity.

The scriptures do not teach this. Those chosen out for salvation will never been anywhere but in the presence of God.

Well, they had to come with some lame explanation for this rather incredible gaff by the bible writers. This was the best they could come up with: "Uh.....well.....uh.....oh yeah, Jesus went to visit all those people......and.....uh.....uh......then he gave them a chance to accept him. That's right.....yes, that's how it was." Fundie Fever - CATCH IT !!!
