No, it's not my parents' religion. It wasn't something I necessarily "developed" all its own. It was just a matter of finding the right label to what I already believed. Sure enough, there was already a religion for it. So rather than trying to needlessly reinvent the wheel, I took it up.

I believe, in a way, it found me. I was 'born' into Christianity, it never set right with me. After a huge loss in my life, I came upon Scott Cunningham's A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. It was finally a path that made sense to me, and has kept doing so.

Both. I was born and raised in an LDS (Mormon) home but had to gain my own testimony of the gospel...
And I do know, deep in my heart and mind, that the restored gospel is true!

Is anyone really born into religion or any belief system for that matter. I was 'raised' in church and as a pre-teen I believed for myself in God. However, I really don't believe anymore that there is a true God or devil out there.

I did a lot of thinking and soul searching to come to my beliefs, my parents were great about not pushing religion on me when I was growing up.

I went full circle: Catholic, apostate, heretic, Catholic. (* No offense to my protestant bros % sis'.)

You are not born into a religion, you choose it for yourself.

Don't let the traditions of your parents influence you, for they will pass on their sins (behavior) to you.

both.i wouldnt say i was born into it, tho..... when i was born, my mother and father were christians, but we never went to church or anything.... i would occasionally as achild walk in on my mom reading the Bible, but other than that nothing was ever forced on me....... when i was a teenager, my mom started getting into goin to church regularly. sometimes i went with her, sometimes i didnt... at that time i didnt really care. i always believed, but was a teenager, and sometimes its not very convenient as a teenager. i never did anything "bad" tho.. but, after i got married and had my daughter, me nad my husband decided we should start goin to church. when we started regularly going, we learned what being a christian is all about.... and its not about what "religion" you belong to... its all about putting your trust in the LORD. and when we started to truly put our trust in Him, our lives changed... things that we used to think matter, we came to realize dont matter at all. so, ultimately, it was our own choice... no one forced me into being a christian.
