It's an ego thing. You walk down the street with a very pretty girl on your arm, you figure the other guys are going to envy you. You figure they are going to think you must be something special to have such a pretty girl.

But the reality is that is seldom a good relationship when you are in private. She may be very spoiled and self-centered, or she may be ignorant because she's spent more time and energy (not to mention money!) on her looks instead of on her brains. Or she may be intelligent and all sorts of good things, but face it: in that case you have some nearly impossible competition. If she can have anyone she wants, she's likely to want a man with a lot of money, or one who can further her career as an actress or model or singer, or one who can meet her exotic sexual needs.

Very pretty girls do not have an easy time growing up, because they are so spoiled. But they have a even harder time growing old, because beauty is almost always a youthful thing. A very few women age gracefully. We can't all be Grace Kelly or Katherine Hepburn, you know!

P.S. Nice try, Brian. She's 11.5 inches tall. I collect Barbie dolls.

There is nothing more useless to me than a make up fussing, credit card shopping, lipstick in my teeth walking stereotype Barbie doll type woman.

I like my women like I like my coffee... strong.

Besides- a few years on that tanning bed and the Barbie doll turns into a dancing California Raisin.

well barbie only stands like 9 inches tall...I don't want to take a chance of smashing her....so I would have the ordinary girl who is about 5 foot 4...

Something that has to do with perfection and image. Besides i'm not most men I prefer brains over beauty any day. You can't have a conversation with someone who talks about the same thing and a beautiful thing is never perfect.

It all relative. We have the ability to choose a partners so we choose what we find most appealing. Back in the late 1800's "large" women were considered more appealing and "Barbie" types were shunned.

Also we live in a culture where everything is about immediate pleasure... men don't want what will benefit them for the long haul, they want what will give them the most pleasure right now.
