There is evil and suffering in this world because PEOPLE choose to be evil and to cause others to suffer.
It hurts God that people choose to be this way.
People call one another names. People abuse one another verbally. DO you not see it here on Yahoo?
In the real world, the same thing goes on, only there is physical abuse as well. People commit adultery. People lie, cheat, and steal.
The key word is PEOPLE....not God.

God is not responsible for the acts of mankind. Religions separate God from man placing God and that very copncept on a pedistal to worship.
Consider that mankind is a single drop of water in an Ocean; God being the ocean one can see the connection; yet a drop cannot blame the Ocean for the drops deeds nor can the ocean penalize the drop for they are each one. Even a drop within an ocean may drift as it pleases.
Once this is made clear and understood by mankind; the problems you see in this world will fall away and fade as an old memory.

From a christian perspective on why there is evil you should read Genesis.
Humanity had everything then because Adam and Eve decided to listen to the serpent (a.k.a. Satan), sin entered the world and our relationship to God as well as to nature was wounded.
So because humanity was stupid we have to enndure plegue, famine, war and death.

There is a loving God.
You brought the evil with you straight from the womb, as did every other person (with a couple exceptions) from the fall in the Garden of Eden onward.

The first point to consider with this often asked question is that God is not our slave and servant we are His,God is not responsible for your and my bad actions, by our own deliberate intention we commit sin and then to compound the offense we hang this on God as if He is the cause.
This attitude is illogical and immature, it is an untruth and as long as you fail to see it on this level you will never get over the wall to the other side.

It is a question only to be answered when you die, mankind simply dose not know for a fact that God exists, and if anyone tries tell you otherwise they are simply lying to you.

cuzz..like in geometry and logic, if there's a p then theres a ~p. if u dunno wut im talking abt i mean like..for ex: if a specific book is x,y,z, etc. then everything that's not the book (ex: the tv or the radio isnt the book) will be ~x or ~y or ~z (~ means not). so basically, God is good and if there's an existence of good there'll always be something thats not good and thats evil cuz evil is simply the absense of good. dats all
