Well, it definately doesn't work like that! It doesn't matter if he has custody or not. You would still get to see the child. IF you decided to take them to your parents thats your perogative. Basically: he can't tell you where or where you cannot take the child.

However, the court is more in favor of mothers having custody unless you are a homeless crack whore!

I went thru this with my sons father! I didn't want him to see our child at all. But again it doesnt work like that. So, he does get to see him-- minimally-- at his request. But when Trent is with his dad there is nothing I can do about where they go together as long as he isnt taking a toddler to a strip club.

the court favors the parent who is most equipped to raise a child... and the majority of the time, the courts are pleased when parents can get along and figure out visitation and custody arrangements, as well.

if you think your boyfriend is in capable of taking proper care of the baby, you could request a psychological evaluation. of course, in many states, this means you both have to take one, it costs money as well.
