Barbie deals with a lot of aspects of feminity. It depends on how you see her.

On one hand, Barbie can be a role model with an impossible body proportion that no girl or woman can have. She could be the symbol of mass media giving women physical beauty standards that she can't meet, therefore giving her needless anxiety.

On the other hand, Barbie can be seen as a role model of women's possibilities and dreams. As a doll, she can be used as a model and actress to play out a girl's fantasies, wishes, and dreams. Barbie has been a fashion model, a fashion designer, an actress, a physician, a veterinarian, a nurse, a teacher, an Olympic athlete, an astronaut, and even President of the United States. Barbie can be seen as the wish fulfillment of feminists and female achievers everywhere!

Like your God, she is just a made up character used to make money and doesn't really have much to say at all. the only difference is, Barbie's creators are much more upfront about being a business, while religion tends to use guilt and hate as their main marketing tools.

nothing to me all she represents is the blonde stereotype because she's got the big house, big cars, hot guys, big breasts, long blonde hair, and the wide hips. Everything every girl in the world wants to look like. They need to make a doll everyone can relate to like a prepubescent barbie like no chest no hips to mot make our children think they have to look like that to get somewhere in this world.

One day a father gets off of work and on his way home he remembers that it's his daughter's birthday. He pulls over to a toy store and asks the salesperson, "How much is the Barbie on the display window?"

The salesperson answers, "Which one? We have:

Work out Barbie for $19.95
Shopping Barbie for $19.95
Beach Barbie for $19.95
Disco Barbie for $19.95
Divorced Barbie for $265.95

The amazed father asks: "What? Why is the Divorced Barbie $265.95 and the others only $19..95?"

The salesperson annoyingly answers:

"Sir... "Divorced Barbie" comes with: Ken's Car, Ken's House, Ken's Boat, Ken's Furniture, Ken's Computer and...one of Ken's Friends."
