If you dont want bells and whistles and you do your own decorating afterwards then £3k to £4k should get the basics done, fancier access, decor additional electrics will cost extra.

Make sure your roof supports are the right type that can be taken out and your flooring supports are also to British standard. a lot of modern houses cannot have loft conversions without a serious amount of strengthening.

Either way dont go at it without some reputable/professional advice, we dont want to see you on Houses from Hell in the next series

well i have just had a quote from some local builders for a basic loft conversion for £8000 having said that i suppose it all depends on where you live and what exactly you need doing

theres a lot more to your basic job than you think ..for one you will need to change all doors in house to fire doors as you are making house 3 storeys very minimum £15000 plus vat
