what does the last name sound like??
German, french etc I believe it is germen

- My fathers last name is shulterbrandt but he is Dominican Republic both my parents both from the dominican Republic. So for a long
time I go saying I am 100% latina.

But I assume I have some german
descendent?? My fathers great grandfather had the last name. so maybe he was geman and travled maybe to dominican republic??

What do ya'll think?

It is definitely of German Descent , If the S is pronounced then no doubt it is German, french people usually keep the S , silent and use the c with the cede mark to pronounce an S sound ie: Ç


EDIT: Cool! you might be of German decent, it's hard to imagine anyone from the DR which was colonized by Spain and thus has Spanish heritage, to have a last name that is German, i would be proud! Germany is a great country, very clean , one of the world's richest and a great place to live , i say you gotta work that latina and german pride!

It sounds like "shulter brant". It means "shoulder brand" (like what you burn into a cow). If you are from the Dominican Republic, your ancestors were probably slaves and they were marked by a brand into the shoulder.

He could have been German but also he could also have been Austrian or Swiss. Both are major German-speaking countries.

This is German. Schulter is (shoulder) and brandt (burned)
Funny last name.
