Because most Jews in this country came from poor immigrant parents from Europe who scraped and slaved all their lives to provide an education for their children , to prevent their children from EVER having to live in in dirt poor ghettos again.

These kids did all they could, for their parts, to make that education count. They studied their butts off, worked harder than hell, and became physicists, doctors, lawyers, teachers, musicians, etc.

They fulfilled their parents dreams, and in the processed ensured that they and their own children would have better lives here in this country. And in doing so, would bring great contributions to American (and the world) society in the fields of physics, science, medicine, music, education, etc.

It's called The American Dream, and that's the goal most people here are raised with as kids. Anyone here can do it if they work hard enough. Everyone here has the choice to come up from whatever conditions they were raised in, and change it, through taking advantage of education and hard work. The Jews have worked very hard to do this, and have succeeded. So can everyone else. Asians are another group who values education and hard work, and have greatly succeeded.

P.S. It is also not necessarily true that the best physicists are Jewish, but that the NUMBER of physicists (and doctors, lawyers, etc.) per **the entire population of Jews as a whole**, is much higher in proportion than the general population.
