"Necesitas trabajar más duro".
"duro(a)" is the word for "hard" in the same contexts as English, as adjective and as adverb:
"A rock is hard" = "Una roca es dura"
"This job is very hard/difficult" = "Este empleo es muy duro/difícil"
"He works hard" = "Él trabaja duro"
"I work harder than you" = "Yo trabajo más duro que tú".

Well, I work harder then you would be "Yo trabajo mas duro que tu" And as you said, Firm is actually "Firme" in Spanish , it is formal to use Duro or Fuerte in place of hard because in general there are many adjectives for hard, all are well to use, like "duro" and "fuerte" I would go with "Fuerte" Though because it shows more effort

"Necesitas trabajar mas duro": is you need to work harder or "Necesitas ponerle mas empeño al trabajo" is basically the same but in a more courtious way... or you can say "Echale mas ganas a la chamba!"

You don't. You would respond with jejeje which is equivalent to lol in Spanish. Lol is an English slang term therefore it does not exist.

"Tienes que trabajar más duro."
"Trabajo más duro que tú."
"Duro" is an adjective that has more or less the same range of meanings as in English. A typical expression meaning "hitting it hard," as in how you're supposed to be studying, is "dandole duro" - i.e., "giving it hard."
