because it is! When bring up your children you have to teach them to share. They already got the greed thing down. We are born selfish and have to be taught to be nice and good.

Hoarding is natural to many animals for survival in harsh environments and when times are bad. I figure greed stems from this.

It evolves around someones surroundings... either they have money around them and that's all their values have been based on. Or they are from the other side of the tracks and have nothing and Greed seems like the way to get to the other side of the tracks. It evolves from the people around them (Family, Friends) not inherited like a gene.

They want a reason or an excuse for the way they behave. People can not always be happy for others and instead want what they have and more. It is not natural but unfortunately it is very common.

Some people are naturally greedy. Some people are naturally giving. It's possible to control your natural instincts, however, and make conscious decisions.
