Hi, I have a houseplant (Chamaedorea elegans) with leaves that are fading badly - not going yellow, just fading away to a pale whitish colour. The leaves affected are most pale on the inside, and the tips maintain some green colour. This has come on quite suddenly. The plant is quite bushy still, the leaves aren't turning brown or dropping off.

If you need any more info please ask!

Nothing. They are simply being shaded out by the outer leaves. It is the common lot of all inner leaves. Fading leaves do give you an indication of any nutrients that may be lacking if you know what to look for. If you started with a healthy plant in good compost, it should be all right.

It really sounds like some kind of nutrient deficiency. Usually they need more nitrogen, and turn yellow. I found a website where it lists some deficiencies along with the symptoms.

I'd try getting it some food and possibly better lighting.
