I can only speak for myself, but I've never seen an atheist on here say that he or she would refuse to believe in any deity if overwhelming evidence were presented.
I have, however, heard people say that they would *not* give up their belief in god, no matter what evidence were ever presented to them.
Have you actually met a closed minded atheist?

I'm going to watch for any atheists saying they wouldn't accept any evidence regarding the existence of god....I honestly doubt I'm gonna see any, but I've been wrong before.

No I can't say that I have and I agree with you.I have seen the question posted many times asking atheists that if proof were to be found for the existence of god would they believe.
Every time the answers are the same.Yes of course we would believe.

close minded doesnt mean that you have taken a stand or decided to believe in something

Closeminded means that you wont consider the other sides viewpoint or wont even look at it when coming to your conclusions.

If I have looked at all the evidence, considered the personal revelations and my own personal experiences of all viewpoints and come to the conclusion that a certain belief is right then I am not closeminded.

too many people claim others are closeminded simply because they reject their viewpoint. Well if that is the case then if you are rejecting my viewpoint then I could call you just as closeminded.

Belief in God comes from personal revelation. Why would I give up my personal belief in God that I know to be true because of socalled evidence you think is more correct. Evidence against God rarely ever disproves gods existance. So I really dont see how anyone could ever have absolute overwhelming evidence that God doesnt exist. How could you?

In my experience whilst human beings make a generalisation like 'Christians are closed-minded' they are in many circumstances completely conscious that no longer each and every Christian fits that description, and that they are purely conversing from their very own experience. they have pronounced a correlation between Christianity and closed-mindedness, and have used it through fact the inspiration for a prediction that an identical vogue would desire to be persisted by the Christian inhabitants. It certainly would not inevitably propose that they have got completely closed their techniques to the possibility of open-minded Christians, nor does it propose that they do no longer desire to evaluate the possibility of their very own closed-mindedness. If somebody have been to declare that each and every single Christian is closed-minded, which would be closed-minded. yet whilst they are merely commenting on a fashion they have encountered, there is not any reason to anticipate that they believe there are not any exceptions.

I meet them every day! Some tell me "I don't care what you say, you can't convince me of anything". Others say, "I'll believe if you have empirical evidence, and you have none". There are others who say "I'll listen so long as it doesn't have anything to do with God and the Bible". And then there are those that say, "I'll listen, but I won't consider it". All are basically different ways of saying the first statement.

So, yes, I've met plenty of closed-minded people on both sides of the fence. Also, it's been my experience that the closed-minded ones are the first to whine that the other side is being closed-minded.

Quailman makes a good point with his link. Many of us claim we want proof, but would deny if it came. Denial and skepticism are two different things. I don't even think our proof would need to be provable to someone else. It just needs to convince me and me alone. That's the point many people make about why they believe: They have their own personal proof. I understand that. But it's not my proof. So I follow what makes more sense to me.

I like the question. I think if god were all powerful, he would supply all of us with whatever personal proof we need. No one would be in doubt. The doubters and the close minded of every denomination, who can't seem to understand that we have differing opinions, make my convictions stronger.

Judging by their Q&A, ALL atheists on here are closed minded.

They often make the most preposterous claims about Bible contradictions, for example, and refuse to acknowledge a well researched, well though out rebuttal. They simply pick as best answer some mindless one line that they happen to already agree with.

Atheists are just as stubborn as anyone else.

I believe I may have met a few such 'strong atheists' on the Internet. Of course most of them aren't as intelligent or interesting as the weak atheists, so I don't remember any particular names. Also, interestingly it seems that the religious people claim there are a lot more strong atheists than there actually are.

*raises hand* I suppose I would be closed minded. I've determined the god concept to be logically impossible so I don't think "overwhelming evidence" can be presented for the existence of something that cannot logically exist.

I reckon I'm at least as dogmatic in my atheism as any religious fundamentalist.

But I wouldn't need *proof* to convince me otherwise - a tiny bit of real *evidence* would do just fine.

I also have not the slightest doubt that no such evidence will ever be forthcoming.

I've met plenty of closed-minded atheists.

In my personal experiences, atheists are generally more open-minded than Christians, but that's only my subjective experience (and I could be selectively remembering.)

There are definitely closed-minded atheists who refuse to examine evidence.
