I was born Jewish into an atheist background, but now am finding myself very spiritual. I like Christianity and Catholicism, and am not sure which one to choose. I never felt "at home" with Judaism, but I do like the above 2 religions I just mentioned. I am uncomfortable though, with the position the Catholic church takes on divorce. And, I particularly don't like why most people do not like "born-again" Christians. Thanks for your answers, everyone.

Try investigating a spiritual church. You will not find condemnation or a wholier than thou attitude.

I felt alot like you at one time. I felt lost and confused and I was at the bottem of my rope. I was brought up Lutheran but had drifted away from it as I got older. I knew I believed in God but had no structure. One day feeling completely hopeless I said the most sincere prayer I ever had in my life. I asked for guidence, nothing more. The next morning the LDS missionaries came to my door. In my soul I knew that was my answer. I took the lessons and for the first time things made sence. I prayed about it and felt completely comfortable with being baptised. That was 27 yrs ago. Although I am not active in the church right now I still love it with all my heart and miss the comfort it brought to me. LDS mom is right on. If you agree with the articles of faith, check out the church. Don't let the propeganda you see every where keep you from investigating it. If you feel comfortable with it then join. Don't let ANYONE pressure you into a decision no matter which church you decide on. All I can tell you is that the LDS church was the best thing that ever happened to me. I hope you find what you are seeking. Best wishes!

First of all Catholics are Christians. I assume you mean Protestant and Catholic.

The Churches position on divorce is the position the scriptures take on it. What God has joined together, no man can part. I think it's only right that a marriage vow made before God should not be taken lightly or just tossed out when people stop loving each other. A promise before God has weight and needs to be seen as such.

But anyway, I'm a convert to Catholicism. I was Methodist most of my life and converted 10 years ago. I have found a whole new level to faith and Christianity in the Catholic Church.

Even if you do not agree with all that the Church teaches, it's to your benefit to check it out. I didn't either when I started into Catholicism, but I have come to understand why the Church teaches what it does and it makes so much sense now. I have had my eyes opened and I am shocked at some of the things I used to think.

Please pray and seek Christ. Seek the truth. That is what we are told to do. You can join RCIA in the Catholic Church. This is the place to learn about the faith and have your questions answered. Or check out http://www.catholic.com for answers on just about anything.

Not all Christians are fundamentalist Christians. If you want to join a religion, go to many different churches and try out how you like their teachings and sermons. Honestly, I came to find Jesus through prayer, the Bible, and discussing the issue with so many people. Some Christian (Catholic, non-denominational, Protestant) churches teach differently. I was taught to love everyone, even you enemy. I was taught to forgive and never look back. I have such wonderful relationships with my family, friends, and God! My life is so much better with the influence of Jesus Christ. And because you seem very mature and older, you know that you wont be following a religion just because mommy and daddy were that particular religion.

Whatever religion (or lack there of) you decide to follow, just remember it is your choice, don't let anyone sway you out of what you believe. Good Luck!

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him." James 1:5

Please feel free to visit http://www.mormon.org and watch the videos. And just like what the above respondent has mentioned, pray to, and sincerely ask God to know if the message is true. I can promise you that if you ask sincerely and with real intent, the Holy Ghost will testify to you of its truthfulness. Hopefully, you will be able to find answers to questions I myself had once asked. Btw, i was a catholic for 20 years.

When choosing a religion you should not be wondering about what other people think as far as the religion. you should choose a religion because it is to your liking not anyone Else's and as far as Christianity or Catholicism. i would choose Christianity because i was taught that you should only bow to one god not all of the saints that Catholicism has. i am not mocking them i just have my opinion and you should do the same.

The LDS (Mormon) Church is the absolute one best church ever to join. Even if you don't join now, however, someone will get baptized and endowed for you after you die, so that you can choose after you die to be Mormon and go to the 3rd Heaven. Several of your Jewish ancestors (along with many from the Holocaust) have already had this ordinance work done for them. They're probably ecstatic on the other side, waiting for you to do the same thing!

Careful, though, if you look "too far" into it and don't join, you will be considered to have "had the opportunity to accept the Gospel in this life" and will only be able to get to the 2nd Heaven in the next life if you accept it there. (D&C 76*)

You seem quite confused. Catholicism IS Christian, despite what many pseudo-Xians here claim. You would be much better served to learn about these myths before choosing one. Wanting to be liked is a very poor reason to choose a religion, by the way.

Look elsewhere.

Religion is the worshiping of a god or thing.
Christians and Jews all worship the same God(ELOHIM).

Jesus Christ was send by God(ELOHM), to become our scape goat for our sins, so we could be saved alive, now we don't need a priest to intercede for us with God, we now have Jesus the son of God, setting at the right hand of His Father to intercede for us. We can go the God the Father in the name of Jesus, and ask His for any thing, and He will give it to us.
All those that follow and believe in Jesus Christ are called, (Christians).

When Jesus Christ came, His people the Jews, would not except Him, there fore they still have to follow the old ways and sabbath, they can' t go through Jesus. because they refused, and did not believe in Him. You can change and come to Jesus, and except Him as your Lord and savior, if you believe in your heart, for God has said, "I am no respecter of person," all are the same in His sight.

i wish were speaking, not writing on Answers.

'religion' is useless. but you do need a relationship with Christ, with him as Lord.

Christ said the work (singular) of God is to believe on him (Jesus).

Despite all the good people going to Catholic churches, their official doctrine is one of works, requiring you to be baptized in the catholic church for starters to be saved and other requirements. Somehow the pope has to pray for the catholics on earth and in 'purgatory' to keep folks from going to hell. So for those who really believe that, they're placing their faith in their religion and not in Christ.

I would read your bible a lot and go to a 'bible believing' church. Yeah, that's hard to figure out from the sign on the road. My default is Baptist or Calvary Chapel.
