How come when anyone asks why you beleive in god, you never give a proper answer, you just spout stuff from the bible and call it proof, or you just say it's because he obviously is real, well, please give me actual, hard evidence of this magical man in the sky's existence, because the bible sure aint proof. Cant you just take a look at your religion for a second, and then you will realise just how absurd it is, wars have been fought over imaginary people and the things they never did.

Your all getting nasty and going on the offensive and I'm only asking a question, it's not like i'm pushing my beleifs on you is it, although I may have worded my question a bit harshly, I see nothing wrong with any religion I just dont beleive it myself so I apologize for offending anyone.

Ok then here you are, beleiving that god is a super powerful man in the sky or whatever is absurd because: (A) the creation of the universe has already been worked out, and surprise surprise, it wasnt god, (B) who would want to beleive in a god that damns you to hell for not beleiving in him, or just doing small things like not going to church or whatever, sounds like a bit of a tyrant to me, (C) god did not create humans, if this was so, humans would have existed since the earth formed (naturally) 4.6 billion years ago, this is obviously not true because life started out as single celled organisms, not multi-cellular highly intelligent sentient beings, (D) you christians seem to beleive that absolutely nothing can happen by chance, well, I have news for you, our entire universe (and all the others) exist soley by chance, nature seems to work together so perfectly not becasue of a god who created it but because all life adapts to suit the environment in which it lives.

Some Christians will give very good answers as to why they believe, but lots and lots will just quote the bible because they cant speak for themselves. That annoys the hell out of me.

Do you believe Hitler existed . Did you meet him actually or do you know this from something you read or what someone told you. Its all about your belief. As for me I know there is a God and hope someday people will eventually know him as well. I have had life experiences that tell me there is a God and a wonderful one at that. Most people who dont believe in God usually just focus on the bad things that go on and life and ask how could God let that happen but many don't see the good things in life it is just taken as a given. I hope this helps some but wars of a holy nature are ones that take course cause they believe differently and can't accept the religion of others. If everyone would just look at theirselves and not what evryone else is doing the world would probably be perfect.

I can't imagine ANYONE looking at the universe, the human body, all the incredible creatures, etc. and believing for even a microsecond that it happened by accident. NOTHING in my life resembles that. I've never dropped a pile of parts & had an engine result. Or thrown a pile of food into an oven & had a perfect meal come out.
Putting churches completely aside. EVERYTHING that I see every day shows me evdience of a designer, a planner, and obviously, one with WAY more power and intelligence than I or anyone I know posess.
Then DO look at the Bible. Look at simple things like the scripture about a rabbit being a cud-chewer. Scientists denied that for thousands of years until high speed photography was developed & it was proved true. Look at all the cities & kingdoms listed in the Bible that science denied existing until they were discovered later, by science.
Lastly, there are MANY prominent scientists who've devoted their lives to science yet believe in God, creation, etc. Including, notably, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Jonas Salk.
The bible is FULL of truth. And the world is FULL of evidence of God.

I quit answering those questions a long time ago. I NEVER used Scripture as a defense, nor did I ever use the "because He's real" reasoning, and yet my answers always got overlooked (and so did every other Christian who answered without using the things I mentioned) for the single atheist who wanted to say how stupid Christianity is in their opinion, even though the question was addressed to Christians, NOT to atheists.
You REALLY want to know why Christians believe what we believe? Try looking into Christian apologetics. They're easy to find. Just go into any major bookstore, or onto amazon.com. Read everything you can get your hands on.
That might give you a glimpse.
I didn't see your other question, but from the attitude you take in this one, I'm glad I didn't waste my time. "Magical man in the sky"? Wow.
Edit: My bad, I mistook you for someone else who just asked a few minutes ago why Christians believe in God. I'm truly sorry for that.

When I look at the creation I'm in awe. To me there has to be an intelligent mind behind our beautiful earth and all the things in the earth.
We just had a baby boy and the whole process was amazing !!! Our bodies are amazing as well !!!
Those are some of the things that I thought about before I became a Christian Jehovah's Witness.
I worship the creator rather than the creation around us. My life has meaning now and purpose.
My choosing to believe does not hurt me or keep me from enjoying life, so I always tell others don't feel bad for me. I'm happy !!!
I got married at a young age and have been married now for over 11 years and have a baby boy now. I'm truly happy.
That's why I believe.

Fine here it is, proof from a Non-christian source that Jesus at the very least existed: search for Josephus on Google. He is a Roman Historian who documented that Jesus in fact did exist. What more proof do you want?
Additional Response: Jesus is God. Why would Jesus die an excruciating death for a lie? Would you submit to that if you were pretending to be God? Pilot gave Jesus a chance to get off.
Typical Non-believer: Ask a question in a harsh way and then play the victim when you receive a harsh answer. I don't understand why believers are viewed as close minded when clearly we have presented evidence supporting our views. What do you expect when you attack someone? Your going to get a bunch of answers telling you why your wrong. Clearly if you really wanted to argue on here you would present your own evidence about why you don't believe in God, especially after counterevidence has been presented. Personally I would be fasinated as to why you said what you said in your original statement. You have not stated youself why believing in God is absurd.

The Bible is not the basis for my beliefs. After researching and investigating on my own I came to the conclusion there was indeed a force at work in the world. I even threw science into the mixture and still reached the same conclusion. I don't believe science and believing contradict one another. To the contrary, I think science can explain just how God does ceate.

So its OK to believe in Santa and not God? He is not real
You ever meet your great great great grandfather? You believe he exists because someone told you.
Many believe George Washington existed despite the fact that the same evidence exists that Jesus lived and they discount that.
You believe there is ice on mars because NASA said so (and they never lie).
I could go on but the point is you will believe anything that does not hold you accountable for your sin.
God is real Romans chapter 1 says you know in your heart he is real but if he is real so is hell and you sin makes you go there.

lmao....Do you know how many times this has been asked? Do you really think we can give you proof on something that is based on faith? Because you are sadly mistaken if you think we can give hard core evidence to prove something we believe in.I'm sure you think to yourself that your question has changed the lives and views of many religious people. Because I'm sure all the people in those wars or people who have believed haven't EVER throughout ALL TIME thought about the question you are asking. Wow! you must be a genius, huh?

A year ago I was along side many of the atheists here, bashing christians for what they believe. I would mock the chrisitan students on my campus and basically laugh in their faces. I was unhappy with my life, barely content with what I was doing. I hated getting up in the morning and walking to/from class. Life had no meaning.
Now that I am Catholic Im happy. I enjoy life and I enjoy people. I get up and go to class, go to work, and Im much happier then I was. Small things prove God is real. If you dont want to accept Him thats not on me, I believe in God because I have seen and felt His work in my life.

i have been blessed beyond belief. i prayed for a child when drs said no and i received 3 here on earth and one in heaven. i had visible cysts on my ovaries that were gone when they checked them again. ive had things happen to me that no person let a lone a child should have to go thru and yet here i stand. why do i believe in God? How can i believe in God? How can I not! my world would be far too dull if i didnt believe in God. I am so amazed at what God has done in my life and what He still does in my life even though i dont deserve it at times. thats my short answer and if it isnt the "proper" one well...i just dont care, its mine.
