I personally know a teacher that teaches the 4th grade and she's very good looking. Aside from the little boys having a crush on her, she is exemplary in her professional demeanor. In getting to know her, I found out that she moonlights as a dancer and just wondered if there is anything that can be "conflicting" about the two. I mean, what if the kids find out?..What do you all think?

This is really a two part questions.

First - the only way for a child to find out is if one of the parents found out and then told their child (which would be just stupid). She may feel very uncomfortable if she gave a lap dance to one of her students dads on Saturday night and then on Monday had to do a parent teacher conference. That alone does not constitute a conflict of interest unless more than a lap dance happened.

Second - Is it against the schools / districts conduct code. Many schools / districts have written in their contracts a "code of ethics" saying that any conduct that could bring harm, damage or cause the school / district unnecessary public scrutiny could be held responsible, and could have consequences up to and including termination.

If she really likes teaching you may want to have your friend ask her union representative to see if there are any codes in the contract that could cause problems for her later on.

"Those little fourth grade boys, already know her business.
That's why they have a crush on her to begin with."

"At Parent-Teacher Conferences, especially her Open House
at School Night, I would love to be there for that."

"This couldn't happen at a school in California Republic, there
would too many cars parked outside of the school's gate,
waiting to pick her up after school."

"If a teacher don't have the respect of the student's parents,
she would be a full-time STRIPPER. In California Republic,
most strippers are full body nudity dancers, do films, house
calls, etc.."

It is not a matter of the kids finding out cause they wont know the difference between stripper and dancing with the stars. It will be the parents who will be freaking out when they find out. My thoughts, as long as she isnt stripping in the class room go for it.

Unfortunately yes it would be considered unethical. and what i mean by unfortunately is that her private life can and will be used against her reguardless of what it may be. Parents could even come up with some sort of a lawsuit against her! And if the school board finds out she will most prob lose her job! Heck back in the day teachers could not even get married, date, have sex..yata yata yata...

The kids won't find out any parent that goes there could not admit to busting her. They would be looked at as a pervert for being in a strip club. I am sure she would quit if school paid her that salary LOL.

Most people would have reservations about her morals/values being imposed on their kids if they knew. Parents however I responsible for instilling these not outsourcing them to educators.

Flavorade, I'd be willing to gamble my next paycheque that there is something written in the contract that she signed as a teacher that would not allow this to happen. Sure it is her life to lead but she is also to set an example to the young minds that she is trying to mold. Ethically and morally I believe that she would be in contradiction of her contract as a teacher.

How would a 4th grader find out? They certainly aren't allowed into a strip club. As long as she's a good teacher, I don't see any problem with it.

I don't believe it's unethical as long as she behaves with caution and professionalism at her second job (i.e. no contact, etc). However, I think it's risky and perhaps unwise on her part because even though it has no real effect on her teaching, if parents or students found out, she'd lose respect, whether or not that's justified.

Yes, there is something very wrong with that. what if one of her student's parents came in and saw her? i mean, i know times are tough and exotic dancing can be good money but when you are in a profession such as teaching children, you can't be doing that.

but then again that is only an opinion. no one take offense to it.
