...that Christians who say, "evolution is a lie because it cannot be proven" offer another explanation that cannot just be proven, but also has absolutely NO evidence whatsoever to back up their claim. So much for wanting proof for something, huh?

I also find it ironic that the people who discard evolution have no idea what the hell they're talking about, and say things like, "I didn't come from no primoridal ooze by accident, god put us here."

As Thor says, initially it's just intellectually wry and ironic. And then you face it on here in all its ghastly reality, and it just seems awful, awful.

I'm rooting for the next asteroid.

Well, not all christians do claim that evolution is a lie. But those that do, yes, this is quite ironic.

That's not so ironic, mostly just sad.

Ironic and sad.

The foks you are talking about are desperate to put science and religion on equal footing. Often they have no idea of what the scientific process is or how to apply it. Nor do they seem to understand just what constitutes "evidence" in a science context.

Creationism is an assertion based soley on religious dogma. The is zero evidence for it beyond the claims of a book written by desert nomads in the Bronze Age.

The Theory of Evolution, Abiogenesis, Plate Tectonics, The Big Bang, Planetary Formation, Germ Theory, and other theories are all backed by two centuries (or more) of painstakingly gathered evidence. Creationists just close their eyes and ears whenever the evidence is presented to them.

I agree. A lot, but by no means ALL, of people who deny evolution have no understanding of it. I had someone tell me yesterday that if evolution is true, we should see things crawling out of puddles as we watch. Like evolution happens in 10 minutes!

Science education in this country is extremely poor. That is why third-world countries are graduating more engineers than we are.
The creation-evolution debate could only take place somewhere that has such a poor record of teaching science.

Lack of education and common sense , especialy in modern countries like the USA is not ironic, it's sad and dangerous.

Christians put the conclusion at the beginning of a study and then forget to undertake the research.

It is ironic, but what do you expect from a population that thinks evolution means a rabbit will give birth to a dog?
