Dont you think "fundies" could say the same thing about atheists?
and before you label me a fundie, since I a mormon I get told by fundies all the time I am going to hell just like I get told by atheists all the time that I am brainwashed and in a cult.
Neither side on here is really going to convince the other side of anything.

There are two different approaches to the truth:
a) The religious approach, which takes truth to be as revealed by inspired leaders in ancient times, unalterable and everlasting. Any observations are explained in terms of that belief to the supernatural. Those who try to change the old beliefs are considered enemies to opposed, excommunicated or even killed.
b) The scientific method which says that truth is what can be proven by careful observations and experiments. Always ready to amend older beliefs(theories) in the light of newer and better measurements. Those who prove the old beliefs wrong and suggest better ones are rewarded and honored.
Method (a) has lead to witchcraft, poverty and wars. Method (b) is far more recent, only about 150 years old, but in that time it has produced incredible discoveries, wealth and progress in all fields and is about to take us to the stars.
You make your choice as to which one you think is best and wish to follow.

I think for the most part it is a waste of time. But I hope that even if they do not immediately agree or understand, there may come a time when the Holy Spirit taps them on the shoulder and they remember something we have said. That somewhere down the road they may come to realize the truth.
Scott Hahn did...it took him years but because his true desire was to seek the truth in Christ, he ended up Catholic...and a darn good one at that!
So, we should pray for our brothers and sisters who, for whatever reasons, have not been enlightened...yet.

What are "fundamentalists"?..... If you are refering to those who know The Truth of God, those of The True Christian Faith... then yes... you are wasting your time trying to change our minds... when one knows The Truth there is nothing that will alter that..... why waste the little time you have on this mortal world when you could be doing other things of greater self benifit... have as much fun as you can in this life... it is the only fun you will ever have.... unlike those who Know The Truth of God who will be having fun for all of eterninty.

You just now figured this out? Talking to fundies brings to mind the expression "arguing with a fence post." The IQs are pretty much the same, although the post makes better conversation.

Why do you care what they do? As long as they aren't interfering with the quality of your life, taking away your rights, they can believe in whatever they want. Why do you try to turn them away from their religion? Do you realize that you're mirroring their exact actions when they try to make people convert?

Not a waste of time.
If the opposing viewpoint was silenced they would quickly gain control.
That's frightening.

I like to think that things I say, although won't change them over night, might plant little seeds in their heads that one day may flourish.

You can't win an argument with demonic people.
The moment you argue, they've won the debate.
Eg: Song: I fought the law and the law won.
Better to flush law as dung, than to fight it.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
