Read this article - too big post here:

It is a scholarly article discussing the subject. I realize those who hold the bible innerancy doctrine will rebuke this but for those who are interested feel free to comment.

It's very interesting and raises good points. However, I'm confused on one part. The article states about Christ:

1. He has Moabite blood via Ruth (Ru 4:13-22), the greatgrandmother of king David.

2. He has Ammonite blood via Naamah (1 Ki 14:21,31) the wife of king Solomon and mother of king Rehoboam.

But then it states:

The New Testament's Davidic genealogy for Christ is traced via Joseph, who was his STEPFATHER. In other words, in reality then, there is probably no Moabite or Ammonite blood coursing in Christ's veins.

So which is it?

Beyond that, there are many contradictions and inaccuracies in Scripture. It was written by man, what would we expect? This does not change the fact that we look toward the Holy Spirit for the truth.

The article you cite demonstrates the contradiction of the claim. The bible is a collection of testimonies from people. Even when God is quoted, it is the testimony of a person telling of such experience. Testimony is not infallible.

I believe the word of the Creator is creation itself. Getting God's message through nature is similar to getting the painters' messages. You can listen to what other people say about a painting, but why not look yourself? Your insights are fallible, but the direct connection improves the signal-to-noise ratio.

The Bible is another interpretation of what an individual (or individuals) believe the divine is. It is written with inspiration of the thought of God in my opinion.

There are 10,999 other religions on this planet (no joke - look it up) and each hold truths that others do not. Thats why I think it is best to study every religion that interests you on a spiritual/emotional level and come to your own conclusions.
(that includes Atheism - because it is also a very good possibility, and that is there may be no divine anything)

well i got to tell you this, if you want to be the Devil's advocate, enjoy , I choose to believe that we were created by a loving God, I would never say that I understand the whole Bible, but I think the main theme is to accept the Lord Jesus as your savior and learn to be a good servant to the Lord first , then mankind second. In between the covers of that one book is a wealth of information that would take a lifetime to study. But it's different strokes for different folks, you can worship a rock if it floats your boat. Love life and live to love , be happy just because you can.

It has been my experience, that when scripture seems to contradict itself, there is always another portion that will tie them all together. anyone can take some scripture and use them to cast doubt, albiet from the lack of knowledge about ancient customs, not having the Holy Ghost, or more than likely, not from enough study of the Bible. The Bible is self-evidencing and needs thorough study to find this out.

Yes the Bible is the true word of God. He gave the words to man to write out, but what man wrote is what God said to write. 'Nuff said.

Words about God. Words about God. Only Christ is the Word of God (the Divine Logos).

Roman 15:4

2 Timothy 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

If a god had anything to do with writing the Bible, he screwed up by not magically maintaining it's consistency. No-one really knows what the original texts said.
