I guess it depends on if you believe in God or not. We that do know that satan is here to kill, steal and destroy. He does not do anything good and can't. We suffer because of the sin of disobedience that allowed satan to rule over the earth. Jesus died, took the earth back and gave it to His believers. satan is so cruel and wants to destory everything good, especially the human race because Jesus died for us.

no it doesn't. if there is anything that proves it (and i'm not sure there is, except what you believe), then that is not it.

let me give that a better effort. evil exists. suffering exists. one is not necessarily a cause of the other. whether sin exists depends on your religion. the real question is, can you tell the difference between good and bad, and are you able to be good no matter what you think about religion? there is evil, whether or not you think it has anything to do with Satan or God. what's wrong is wrong, whether or not you believe it is a sin.

also suffering does NOT prove that God does not exist, as posed by your other answerer. lots of folks who are miserable like to say that God must not be around if he allows suffering to happen. how could it be that God would stop ALL suffering? what kind of weird world would that be? suffering and happiness both have to exist, and blaming God cuz he doesn't fix every single bad thing that happens is just unreasonable.

The most succinct definition of sin would probably fall into the area of whatever God calls wrong and He doesn't call suffering wrong, therefore, suffering is not necessarily proof of evil or sin. The fact that suffering can exist without evil, but evil can't exist without sin, begs a conclusion that only sin is proof of evil.

sin is all about choices, not sure how it fits into suffering, or evil for that matter. Without suffering and lifes heartache, the strength that sits within us would have no way of coming out.
Suffering only makes us stronger, makes us grow and shapes our soul.
it is through suffering that people tap into a part of themselfs that ultimatly betters ourself in the end.
evil does exist, it has to , there is always balance, good and evil, right and wrong, yes no..bla bla on and on...always.
to many people dwell on the negative side of things...such as suffering. Dwelling does nothing for our self growth, learn the lesson that suffering brings so you can move on and grow!
Blessed Be!

Not always. There's no doubt that sin and evil can cause suffering. However, death, psychical injury, etc., also causes suffering (to a degree), and those are natural processes of life. But what does sin and evil prove?

We suffer because we're human. The physical body hurts and feels pain when injured. The mind, untrained to a higher purpose, recoils from slights real and imagined. We don;t suffer because we are sinful or evil, but it is true sinful acts and evildoers can increase all our suffering.

no, since suffering is relative and evil and sin subjective, they are unprovable in a scientific since.

...also, it does not 'prove' that god doesn't exist, it could make the statement that god does exist and isn't interested in the workings of the world.
