I am logged onto a wireless network at a college. I can access the internet through Internet Explorer, using my username and password from the college, but I can't get my e-mail filtered into Outlook because Outlook doesn't recognize the connection. Is there any way I can fix that?

I don't mean how do I filter my mail in...I can do that. But when I'm using this particular wireless connection, how can I make Outlook recognize that I am connected?

If indeed you are connected to the internet, is it YOUR computer on which you're connected, or is it a "community" computer such as the one at the library? If you're not connected, or if you're using a "community" computer, then you should ignore my answer, and give someone else your points.

You need to set up an account: you need to find out, from your college, what sort of email they'll let you use (is it POP? IMAP, etc...) Then start Outlook, click Tools, Email Accounts, Add a New Account. Then go to the next screen, and go through the process, as your college will HOPEFULLY give you, for fetching your email.

Then, once you get the Account properly set up, you can go into Tools and Options and Mail Setup and choose how the mail is fetched (like, say, every time you start Outlook, or only when you press Send/Receive, and only for that Account, or for all Accounts...and like that).

You may ALSO have to diddle your Internet Settings (Control Panel)

Remember none of these apply if you're using a "community computer" (you don't want to diddle their accounts or download your private mail there!) or if you're not connected (it won't do you any good, anyway...you need different advice)

you have to go into the outlooks settings and configure it to work. Whoever you have your email through should be able to walk you through the settings in a matter of minutes, you need to call them
